For this beer they added lactose to sweeten up the stout. Yes, lactose, as in, that stuff that gives you muscle cramps. This mostly works, but at times it seems as though the taste of the milk and the taste of the stout are at odds with each other, so the flavor can be a bit schizophrenic at times. Overall fairly good, but I think I might like their plain porter better. Kuzo (43), Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 22, 2009 Pours a very dark brown with red highlights when held to the light. Very thick bubbly head. Not very much on the nose but does smell a bit like an iced coffee with cream and sugar. Mouthfeel is light with a smooth and creamy consistency. Taste is very similar to the nose with some bitter chocolate and roastiness. This is a decent beer but not my style. NCBeerBoy (12), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 9, 2009 My wife brought this back to me from NC. The flavor has a good blend of "milky" goodness and stout I have has some "milky or vanilla" stouts/porters, namely Breckenridge Vanilla Porter that has too much "milk". Duck Rabbit does not over do it. You still can taste the stout finish. derekbrown (17), Greenville, North Carolina, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 5, 2009 Right up there with Guinness on my dark-beer faves list. Great stuff out of my hometown, Farmville, NC. Has a very full-body, with a slightly sweet finish, and it’s blacker than night. elihapa (1052), Honolulu, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 4, 2009 9/29/09 notes: Ok, so I’ll give credit where its due. This is actually a much better beer than I remember. It displays sweet lactose while managing to retain toasted notes and a certain nutty chocolateness. Smooth body throughout, medium length finish. I really enjoyed it. NomDeBeer (399), Maryland, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 2, 2009 Kind of similar to their porter, but not as robust. Smooth, creamy palate with flavors of milk chocolate, and some coffee. Very easy-drinking stout, though it could use a bit more body.
