| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Mar 10, 2008 The aroma is like a milk stout should be. It’s got cream, chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt. The appearance is red brown with a large head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is a little bit thin. Overall it’s pretty good. Ibrew2or3 (2724), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 3, 2008 12oz bottle pours dark dark brown with amber edges and thin light brown head. Looks a bit like a Porter. First whiff contains a certain milk quality although the dominant aroma is medium to well roasted malts. I also get some mild amounts of chocolate, caramel and a faint burnt maltiness. The taste reveals much more burnt maltiness than the nose. To go along with the charredness are notes like lactose in an ample quantity, mild malt astringency and some chocolate malts. Then midway a sweet maltiness surfaces before roasty maltiness carries the experience into the after taste where it is met by more burnt malts. BlackForestCO (820), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 2, 2008 Bottle thanks to Dragonstout. Poured a deep brown color with a thin, bubbly tan head that diminished to a ring. Aroma of roast, light chocolate, and a bit of lactose. Lightly sour and biting entry leads into a pleasant roastiness with undertones of chocolate and light vinous notes. Finishes a bit sharp with some more roast on the finish. Not bad, and definitely different than I was anticipating. Thanks to the dirty Dragon for hooking me up. CheersMate1 (789), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 1, 2008 A rather weak aroma. I have to put my hand over the cup just to capture enough of the molecules that are evaporating. When I do smell the beer it smells pretty good. The beer has a nice roasted sweet malt aroma to it. The beer is nice and black in appearance, but the head is just your average boring white head, but maybe with a sweet stout especially a milk stout this should be the case. The pour was nothing special. The beer could be a bit smoother considering it is a stout. A little on the watered down end. The beer has a nice flavor to it. The roasted malts are everywhere in the taste. There is not really a hop presence anywhere in the beer. I can taste the off milk flavor. I had a better experience with the Left Hand Milk Stout, when it was on tap. It was like drinking a mixture of a stout beer and milk. Overall, this beer has a weak aroma, an average palate, and a nice roasted malt taste. I can say the malt taste is quite good, it dominates the flavor. You don’t try too many beer with this clean of a roasted malt flavor. abcfan (247), New Jersey, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 24, 2008 Thanks to emacgee for the bottle. Beer was decent, poured a very dark brown with a nice tan head. Aroma was decent, smelled of coffee, choc and nuts. Tasted very creamy, which surprised me. Very smooth and drinkable. Nothing spectacular here, but nothing bad either! nhorween (639), Chicago, Illinois, USA
