franksnbeans (265), Columbus, Maryland, USA Dec 24, 2007 Pours an opaque black with a frothy tan head that retains and laces. Carbonation bubbles visible all around the sides. Smells mild in every way but I pick out roasted malt, chocolate and caramel. Tastes of roasted coffee beans, bakers chocolate, slight vanilla and a bitter hop bite. To be honest, a little weaker and less sweet than I though it would be but still good. Feels creamy in the mouth with a tickle on the tongue from carbonation. Great drinkability. My first drink from the duckrabbit well and a tasty brew that didnt dissapoint Saarlander (1577), Saarlouis, Germany Dec 24, 2007 Bottle from Mystery swap 2.0. Dark brown pour, slight head. Somewhat sour on the first taste, Roasted malts. It then becomes sweet, chocolate milk!! really drinkable, smooth, probably about six months old. nice. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Dec 19, 2007 Bottle from ucusty. Dark brown beer with a big bubbly tan head that settles into a nice lasting layer above the beer. Aroma is roasty and sweet with notes of brown sugar or maple. Interesting flavor. Definitely strays from the aroma. A tad sour and roasty up front with lightly sweet notes and then a roasty finish. This is carbonated to high hell which detracts from the overall experience. It also seems a bit thin for the style. All in all, this is interesting for a rather regular style. Hmmm. jtw (942), farmington, Michigan, USA Dec 15, 2007 bottle from secret santa 2007: a deep brown or ruby tinted liquid with a dense beige head. roasty and sugary aroma, slightly tart and bitter but smells thin. light-bodied for a stout, which was evident from the translucency and sweetened aroma. somewhat astringent despite an overall sweetness; decent brew. Zaprozdower (41), Boone, North Carolina, USA Dec 13, 2007 Pours a rich mahogany with a very thick head. Aroma was very nutty with some chocolate nuts as well. Taste is very much what the aroma promises but with a slight something I’ve encountered only in some dark lagers I’ve had in Germany. Beer warms quickly and hits hard for its APV...interesting beer. rayg1 (433), Ft. Mill, South Carolina, USA Dec 11, 2007 I was surprised to find that I never got around to rating this one. Pours out a deep brown, almost black with a decent brown head that bubbled up quickly but then dissapeared. Aroma was lightly sweet but also sort of tart smelling. I don’t know what it is about Duck Rabbit beers but they all have this. Taste is rich chocolate and nutty with a thicker mouthfeel to it. Not a bad stout but certainly not the best either. Fairly dry finish. kimcgolf (824), Dacula, Georgia, USA Dec 10, 2007 Poured to a dark brown with hints of red and a nice, thick brownish head that lingered well and left good lacing. Aroma was a sweet, malty milk chocolate with a slight side of roasted nuts. Mouthfeel was smooth and full, ahnd the taste foloowed suit with the nose. Finish was long, and as the beer warmed, an amount of alcohol crept ito both the nose and taste that surprised me for a beer with only 5.7 %.
I did not like previous Milk Stouts I’ve had, but Duck-Rabbit did the style proud with this one. theisti (1640), Leawood, Kansas, USA Dec 9, 2007 12 oz. bottle from Suttree. Pour is deep brown with ruby highlights and a nice looking 3 inch khaki head. Really good retention. Aroma of some nutty (almost almondy) malts and tobacco or smoke. Taste reveals some milk sourness, along with the nutty-roasted malt. Some of the woody smoke tobacco comes through in the flavor, causing it to be very dry. Unique stout.
