| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 26, 2007 From bottle : Pours a rich dark brown color, with a light brown head that leaves nice lacing around the glass. The head was a nice size to begin with but showed poor retention. Nose of roasted chocolate, oak, dough, and a faint cherry smell. Flavor is much the same with the roasted chocolate and oak, not so much the cherry in the taste though, the flavor should be a little bigger and bolder i think. Medium body with a smooth feeling on the palate. I little hint of alcohol on the aftertaste. Not to bad, but not the best. Beerlando (2312), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 25, 2007 Dark mahogany brown in color, this brew sports reddish highlights at the edges when held to a light source. A large and extremely foamy tan head displays excellent retention, but leaves minimal spotty, sudsy lacing behind on the glass. The aroma is quite lactic, as the name suggests. Notes of baker’s chocolate, charred oak, and light soy sauce are met with a slightly milky, smoothing element. The flavor profile follows suit, though is perhaps a bit more roasty and less lactic than the nose indicates. Charred oak, dark chocolate and coffee tend to dominate, with subtle hints of cream fading into the background. Medium bodied, the swallow produces a long and roasty finish. Very dry on th palate for a sweet stout. Fits more of a traditional stout mold in my opinion. Decent brew, but far from anything special. franksnbeans (265), Columbus, Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 24, 2007 Pours an opaque black with a frothy tan head that retains and laces. Carbonation bubbles visible all around the sides. Smells mild in every way but I pick out roasted malt, chocolate and caramel. Tastes of roasted coffee beans, bakers chocolate, slight vanilla and a bitter hop bite. To be honest, a little weaker and less sweet than I though it would be but still good. Feels creamy in the mouth with a tickle on the tongue from carbonation. Great drinkability. My first drink from the duckrabbit well and a tasty brew that didnt dissapoint Saarlander (1577), Rancho Cucamonga, California, USA

Somewhat sour on the first taste, Roasted malts. It then becomes sweet, chocolate milk!! really drinkable, smooth, probably about six months old. nice. riversideAK (2671), Shoreline, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 19, 2007 Bottle from ucusty. Dark brown beer with a big bubbly tan head that settles into a nice lasting layer above the beer. Aroma is roasty and sweet with notes of brown sugar or maple. Interesting flavor. Definitely strays from the aroma. A tad sour and roasty up front with lightly sweet notes and then a roasty finish. This is carbonated to high hell which detracts from the overall experience. It also seems a bit thin for the style. All in all, this is interesting for a rather regular style. Hmmm. jtw (942), farmington, Michigan, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 15, 2007 bottle from secret santa 2007: a deep brown or ruby tinted liquid with a dense beige head. roasty and sugary aroma, slightly tart and bitter but smells thin. light-bodied for a stout, which was evident from the translucency and sweetened aroma. somewhat astringent despite an overall sweetness; decent brew. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 13, 2007 Pours a rich mahogany with a very thick head. Aroma was very nutty with some chocolate nuts as well. Taste is very much what the aroma promises but with a slight something I’ve encountered only in some dark lagers I’ve had in Germany. Beer warms quickly and hits hard for its APV...interesting beer.
