aspidites (1274), manteca, California, USA Nov 21, 2007 Big lactic nose with mild tobacco and smoke. Very lactic up front with a very roasted and mildly chalky palate. Lingering roasted finish. Skeegle (476), Maryland, USA Nov 17, 2007 This beer had an extremely thin presence and was super carbonated. The flavor had a terrible funk to it took a few sips to get used to, but I did make it though it. Not my favorite. jeremytoni (1069), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Nov 16, 2007 From a bottle pours black with very little head. Nice strong flavor smokey malty, with a lasting aftertaste. Zinister (1198), Houston, Texas, USA Nov 14, 2007 Bottle courtesy of ucusty. Pours just wonderfully. Dark black with glints of red when you hold it up to the light. Great rocky head with nice lacing. Aromas of roasted grains, warm chocolate milk and oatmeal. Full bodied and a creamy carbonation. Sweet roasted flavor with some cocoa and woody tastes the backgound...light astringincy as well. Really enjoyed this beer....thanks ucusty! pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 21, 2007 bottle. Black with creamy head. Looks very thick and creamy - very nice appearance. Chocolate milk aroma. Roasted flavor. Nice bitterness and mouth feel overall. Ansset13 (127), Wilmington, North Carolina, USA Oct 20, 2007 On tap at Lighthouse beer and wine beer festival. Pour is very nearly black with nice tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, rich chocolate and sweet from the lactose. The flavor while rich and deep from the roasted malts is well balanced with a nice sweet finish on the back half of the tongue. My introduction to Milk Stouts, but I will be sampling more as this is a very unique style. arjoseph (594), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 18, 2007 GABF 2007. Am I missing something? Why is this rated so low for the style? Perhaps the batch they brought to GABF was better than the rest. Anyway, I thought it was really good. Roastier smelling than I expected for a sweet stout. The slightly sweet finish is dry, but the beer is mostly smooth with the lactose addition. The sweetness hits far back on the tongue. Mouthfeel is nicely full. Well balanced. 1FastSTi (2551), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Oct 17, 2007 Thanks Jmichael for this freebie. This beer pours to a super dark red body that looks black. The beer has a light tan colored foamy head. The aroma is really decent with milk chocolate chips, roasted black malts, and black patent. Thankfully that wasn’t overdone. The flavor is roasted black patent, licorice, charred malts, and a balanced sweet chocolate. The palate is medium bodied and only lightly astringent from the charred malts.
