jredmond (1015), New Jersey, USA Aug 30, 2007 Updated: Oct 1, 2009No. no no. I did not enjoy this brew. I think Id rather have a dry or reg stout over a sweet. Roastiness and no fizzies. ogglethorp (882), Ohio, USA Aug 25, 2007 Bottle. Pours nearly black with a very thin tan colored head. Aroma is chocolate, sugar, coffee, roast. Flavor is chocolate, lactose, coffee, roasty notes. Palate is medium to full bodied, mild to medium carbonation, sweet sticky finish. Great stuff. I really like this style and this is a fine example. wcampbell (572), Central, South Carolina, USA Aug 20, 2007 Not bad for one of my least favorite styles. Lightly roasted malt flavor finishes with a sweet taste of milk. Low carbonation and easy to drink. drewdogg (62), USA Aug 19, 2007 Pours black with medium body. Very small amount of head. A nice smooth cream flavor. I was very impressed and found that the sweet/cream flavoring did not overwhelm the stout as with Left Hand’s Milk Stout, which I think tastes more like a liquid Milk Dud. AllAboutStout (605), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Aug 17, 2007 Pours a dark almost black in color. Smell is smokey and lactic. It has a very distinct burnt note in the smell. Taste is very nice. The lactic/milk notes are well done and taste good. A tad thin on the mouthfeel. A decent beer that you can enjoy without getting slammed by the ABV. Another solid beer from DR. To this date there has been only one beer from them that has not impressed me. puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Aug 16, 2007 Really yummy, milky aroma. Best milk stout aroma I’ve smelled, by far. The milk isn’t spoiled and sour and really lactic, but rather slightly sweet, chewy, marshmallowy. Flavor is similar, with a bit less milk presence and a slightly harsh palate. Lightly roasty, and very drinkable. Great stuff Boutip (2333), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Aug 16, 2007 Bottle courtesy of Secret Santa: Poured a medium black color stout with a nice foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with some dark chocolate notes. Taste is a mix between slightly bitter roasted malt with some dark chocolate. Body is tad too light for the style but creamy texture was well enjoyed. Very well done overall and something I wouldn’t mind having again. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Aug 14, 2007 Black pour with a spotty pool of cream head. Nose of roasted malt, raspberry iced tea and a hint of jasmine. Cherry lipstick. Tastes mainly of black cherries and strawberries with milk. An overdraft of dirty, thick malt. Pasty pine nuts and cranberry skins. Fairly simple with a forward, dark sweetness. Lactose isn’t as prevalent as the sweet fruity stuff, which is surprising. So the palate is quite sprightly and light, which leaves an odd, foreign impression. This could serve as a great base for something of higher gravity. Kind of interesting and nice, in a weird way. Thanks Steve!
