Commercial Description:
A traditional full-bodied stout brewed with lactose (milk sugar). The subtle sweetness imparted by the lactose balances the sharpness of the highly roasted grains which give this delicious beer its black color.

(Bottle (best by 5/07) via trade with <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=3 target=blank>Ty5592, thanks Ty!) A little messy but pretty good...Very dark cola brown with three fingers of creamy, slightly rocky khaki head. Sweet aroma of coffee roast, dark and milk chocolate. Mouthfeel fairly smooth but on the thin side. Also quite well-carbonated, almost like soda. Scant lacing. Flavor is rich and bitter coffee and chocolate. Also a cherry-like or dark fruit taste slips in, seems out of place. Needs a little meatier texture and less carbonation IMO.

12oz, enjoy by 05/07 courtesy of BleacherBum, thanks Ryan. Pours a deep brown with a three finger creamy brown head with pretty good retention. Aroma of roasted malts, sweet milk chocolate, a little brown sugar, and minimal grain. Flavor is actually quite roasty with a moderate amount of acidity, anise, some milk chocolatey sweetness, and a roasted grain finish. Pretty highly carbonated with a lighter body than I’d have liked. A solid effort.

Pours a dark dark brown with a even dense, but small light tan head. The nose is just as textbook stout. A sweet roast malt, slightly sharp with a hint of acidity, but theres a nice round malt bill and a bit of floral hops that balances this out. I think the palate on this is just absolutely perfect. Rich creamy and thick. Not too viscous for the style, though certainly beyond where most milk stouts stop. This really get some special brownie points in terms of flavor. Some big deep malt really comes through beyond the obvious roast. Again, really creamy, definitely sweet, there’s some caramel, but I think it’s mostly the lactose. It’s over the acidity of the roast. Definitely some nice bittersweet chocolate but tempered by some slightly piney hops. This is a really well constructed beer and I wish I had bought a sixer fo shizzle. The creamy finish meets an acdic roasty and slightly alcoholic aftertaste. I can’t think of a better sweet stout I’ve had!

Bottle, best by 06-07. Eight ball-colored liquid with small, brown sugar head that can’t hang around. Aroma is smoking wok with toasted sesame oil, and some metallic-sour lactic acid and/or hop. Taste is similar, slowly turning to chocolate and dry smoked-coffee. Nice hoppy, prickly finish. The sweetness is subtle as advertised, mostly evident is the sharpness of the roasted grains - smokiness and coffee. Palate is medium, somewhat creamy, and tingly.

Bottle. Average creamy-frothy (mostly dissapating) head that leads into black body. Pretty good lacing. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, and roasted malts (big suprise, huh?). Flavor is initially sweet and finishes sweeter. Long finish duration. Medium bodied. Syrupy textured. Flat carbonation. As I have stated with other milk stouts that I have tried....this is a good beer but a little too sweet for me. ___The more I drink the more I notice the weird touch of sour in the finish...just thought I would mention it.

Deep brown pour with a nice sized and creamy tan head. Aroma is very much coffee with minimal chocolate and a lot of roasted malt. Pretty intense flavor, very robust and roasted coffee, citrus hops pretty evident towards the finish. Finish is some vanilla and burnt bitterness. Something isn’t right about this, I think the body is a bit too rough. Heavily carbonated and a bit too hoppy for this style. Still good though.

definetly soem sweetness in the nose, but its throwing me off. flavour is awful, i cant drink this. i’m not sure why........it’s sour, and has a certain flavour that is really detracting from any redemable qualities.

pours a bing-cherry black with a tan head that retains well and leaves good lace. roast aromatics run to the sharper, coffee side of things. flavor starts with a bite of roast bite, but mellows out nicely in a wave of thickening sugars. A very nice milk stout - not as sweet and insipid as they often are. a little confused in the aftertaste.
