Ughsmash (3983), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Dec 29, 2006 Bottled. Poured a clear mahogany with a medium creamy cap of beige head. Nose picked up sweet roasty chocolate, milkiness, and other dark sweet sugars.. smelled quite nice. The flavor flowed well from the aroma... on the sweeter end with lightly-roasted chocolate and latte milkiness.. left an almost coffee bitterness and mild lactose sourness at the finish. Lighter-bodied with a nice flow to it. Good stuff! Aurelius (2643), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Dec 28, 2006 Toasty, slightly creosotic patent roast aroma. Very dark, but not black. Very rich, lightly tangy, lightly fruity, velvety and aley. Twinges of metals sometimes, but easily overlooked. Very enjoyable and a bit different. On tap, Mellow Mushroom, Asheville. BiochemProf (53), Boone, North Carolina, USA Dec 26, 2006 3-finger tan foamy head atop an inky black pour. Holding up to a light reveals a very dark brown but clear liquid. Great lace. Wonderful roasted coffee aroma with floral overtones. Much more complex than I am able to descibe. Thick syrupy mouthfeel. Mocha nutty flavor. Tastes almost like an ice cream drink. Liquid chocolate covered esspresso beans. Great sweet stout! badnewsbeers (1026), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Dec 22, 2006 reddish black body with small, tan head..aroma of milk sugar (lactose) and bitter dark chocolate; this beer begins mildly sweet and finishes quite bitter...heavily over-carbonated and somewhat unpleasant...one of the worst sweet stouts out there muenster (339), Sevierville, Tennessee, USA Dec 22, 2006 Bottle. Pours dark brown/black with a thick tan head. The aroma is strong, sweet maltiness, with notes of smooth chocolate and a bit of coffee. The flavor is very sweet, with the same chocolate and light coffee character as the aroma. cewldre (268), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Dec 19, 2006 Bottle from Santey Clause: Pours a nice black, with a thick tan head. Smell seems sweet, with some chocolate and bright coffee smells (yeah, coffee, sweet?? But it smelled sweet, live with it :-p) Taste was not what I was expecting. I tasted some creaminess, with some roasted nut, coffee, and a some chocolate. The reason I say it was not expected is because it does not seem to match the smell it gave off. Still good, but not great. Jmichael (633), Asheville, North Carolina, USA Dec 16, 2006 (bottle) I poured this into a pint and it gave a thick creamy head right to the rim, dark color. Had a light nutty smell, the taste was much lighter and smoother than it looks, slight coffee taste, heavy milk taste. Over all very smooth and a nice stout. Silphium (2117), Haslett, Michigan, USA Dec 13, 2006 Bottle thanks to Suttree. Translucent deep brown body with reddish highlights, puffy light tan head. Aroma of coffee and licorice, with roasted malts and lactose sugars also prominent. Sharp, biting mouthfeel, the body primarily showing characteristics of roasted malt, coffee, and light sweetness imparted by the lactose. Overcarbonated and disappointingly bland.
