Cletus (5002), Connecticut, USA Nov 7, 2006 Pours dark brown with a tan head. Smells of chocolate, nuts and roasty malt. Tastes of cocoa, cream, coffee and chocolate. Not bad. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Nov 7, 2006 12 oz bottle. Black with a tan head. Lactic sour nose with vegetal hints, gets much better as it warms, becomes a peanut butter cup scent. Really strange, but pleasant. Biting coffeelike flavor followed by a slightly sour finish. Something is off here - this was actually a rerate. The first bottle I shared with gputty was very bad, but this is better. Still, off somehow. CelticBrew (676), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Nov 4, 2006 Poured from 12 oz bottle nice dark, small hint of carbonation. Head was slight, of light brown sugar color. Aroma was of milk chocolates, coffee, malt and liqour. Tastes of light chocolates infused with a bit of sourness. Not really sweet IMO. Not the best stout I had, but fairly drinkable. No comparison with DR’s Baltic Porter. Aubrey (2773), Denver, Colorado, USA Nov 3, 2006 Deep and dark brown. Lively, tingly carbonation. Fairly light body, but with a creamy base. Big chocolate, roast and dark toast. Finish was filled with bitterness and coffee. Not really enough sweetness, and not much lactic. shrubber85 (2833), Wallhalben, Germany Oct 29, 2006 Bottle. Coffee and chocolate milk aroma. Opaque dark brown with small head. Sweet creamy mocha coffee flavor with moderate hops. Delicious - on the hoppy side. Bajahobo (30), USA Oct 28, 2006 Updated: Oct 29, 2006Bottle. Pours black, but is not as starless as your typical stout with a thin beige head. Chocolate, toffee, and vanilla dominate the scent. Mouth-full is delightful: A steady bitter climb leads to a viscid, lactose, burnt caramel freefall. Perhaps a bit too biting for a sweet stout, but I can’t blame Duck-Rabbit for being aggressive. The body could be thicker, but I think you would lose some of the milkiness if this were so. emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Oct 26, 2006 Updated: May 22, 2007Poured a dark black and allowed some light through at the top. The head was brown, medium thin, and creamy. The aroma was sweet, definitely some lactose in there and kind of grainy. The flavor was very grainy, sweet, slightly roasted, and also shows definite lactose. I don’t think the rating truly shows the beers quality but I can also understand how it has attained this average. BeerandBlues2 (3201), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Oct 24, 2006 Pours black with a fizzy, off-white/tan head, lasting, sporting some lined lacing. Aroma is sweet creamy chocolate malt (meal, cookie), yeast (dough, earth), cocoa, and malty lactose milk. Flavor is a mouth full of chocolate, vanilla, creamy malt and yeast with some ashy coffee notes. Medium bodied and fizzy, dry and lively palate.
