Commercial Description:
A traditional full-bodied stout brewed with lactose (milk sugar). The subtle sweetness imparted by the lactose balances the sharpness of the highly roasted grains which give this delicious beer its black color.

A black beer with a slight brown shine, underneath a brown head. The aroma is very light with hints of chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with light notes of both roasted malt and chocolate, leading to an end with a dry chocolate note. The body is a bit thin inspite of the 5.7% ABV.

Dark, reddish-brown body with no head. It looks more like cola in the glass than a beer. The aroma is pretty pungent and unpleasant. It is thick with musty malts, and maybe some cocoa in there too. This has a strange, sticky, maple syrup flavor and a sticky mouthfeel.

Bottle from ross - pours a very dark brown with no head to speak of - spent coffee grounds and burnt grains in the aroma, along with some earthy/woody notes and some caramel/toffee - lactose is very apparent, but a little too much is used to try and balance the roasted grains, making the beer a little cloying - thin mouthfeel - tastes like old coffee with too much sugar in it - not all that good.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown bordering on black. Small tan head that recedes very quickly. The aroma is roasted malts and coffee. The taste is bitter chocolate, roasted malts, and tasty sweetness. It’s a bit on the sweet side, but it mostly works. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, mouthfeel is thin and a little watery.

12 oz bottle, purchased on a vacation in the Outer Banks, NC. Pours opaque with a very short tan head. aroma of buttered toast and cocoa powder. Bitter at first, but thins out quickly. bitter chocolatey aftertaste. not bad.

12 oz bottle, via acertain. Pours a clear very dark brown body under a one finger brown head that faded to a thin film. Aroma is very roasty with a nice lactose sweetness. Lighter notes of anise, chocolate, and caramel. Flavor is nicely roasty up front that fades to a lightly bitter lactose laced finish. A little char and chalk late in the finish also. Mouthfeel is fairly thin and watery in texture but the carbonation was soft and pleasant. Overall, fairly decent, but nothing that will blow you away.

Completely opaque, black with a thin, brown head. Great dark fruit aroma with soft, subtle roast, sweetness, and toasted, dried milk. Very easy to drink but not overly complex. This is not a derogatory comment, this is a beautiful beer. It has a balanced impact and a great flavor. This is the best milk stout I have ever had.
