The nose is full of coffee, caramel, roasted malt, a little earth, and a touch of wet dog. No carbonation and a medium-rich, slightly creamy mouthfeel. I find the complete lack of carbonation odd and it seems to throw things off for me. Chocolate, coffee, cream, earth and a bit of vanilla on the palate. A medium finish with some lingering chocolate milk and coffee notes. I think this one tastes pretty good, but could really benefit from greater carbonation. Nice roasted malt aroma with some sweetness around it. Taste is just like the aroma. A real refreshing , nothing in your face, beer yhat you’d want to have another. Leaves a real nice flavor in your mouth. Great balance between malts and sweetness. Left a little lacing on the glass. scrizzz (1265), kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 1, 2009 Strong coffee aroma, clear dark brown, small head. Only get burnt grain on the nose, nothing really creamy. Very smooth, good balance between creamy sweetness and dark roasted grain. ditmier (1059), Boise, Idaho, USA

I found it less intensely coffee than other folks; I thought there was a nice sweetness that made it at times something like hot chocolate. This is a great beer for the whole family (adults, anyway) -- even my mother, who hates beer, drank this like water! Nejhleader (928), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 23, 2009 Bottle. Pours dark brown. No head to speak of. Just tiny bubbles. Kinda worried me it was flat. But it wasn’t. Aroma of lactose, coffee, chocolate, and roasted coffee beans. Flavor very malty up front. Roasted coffee in the middle, with a nice sweet hint of caramel in the end. Lingering swetness/roastyness in the aftertaste. Medium bodied. Mouthfeel was light and velvety.
