A traditional full-bodied stout brewed with lactose (milk sugar). The subtle sweetness imparted by the lactose balances the sharpness of the highly roasted grains which give this delicious beer its black color.

Completely opaque, black with a thin, brown head. Great dark fruit aroma with soft, subtle roast, sweetness, and toasted, dried milk. Very easy to drink but not overly complex. This is not a derogatory comment, this is a beautiful beer. It has a balanced impact and a great flavor. This is the best milk stout I have ever had.

This is one of my favorite brews. I usually like ales the best but this was great. All I can say is bitter chocolate! A roasted chocolate taste pervades but there is also that smoothness that you find in a milk stout. I would definitely recommend this.

Bottle thanks to the Ross, who hopes to one day play guitar as good as Angus Young. Keep practicing Ross, you’ll get there young man. Pours black with thick tan head. Heavy dark roast and coffee aroma. Nice mouthfeel. Coffee flavor with some bittering hops, and a slight sweetness. Some astringency in the roasty and bitter finish. I was expecting this to be a little sweeter being a Milk Stout, but still good.

[Bottled, my 7000th rating, thanks chris_o!] Near black, beige head. Aroma of coffee and corn flakes. Medium sweet with rounded creamy mouthfeel and rather light body. Plenty of butterscotch and a hint of metal. Boldly flavourful., but kind of unrefined.

I found this beer to be very enjoyable, but roastier than expected. I would have guessed a milk porter if I didn’t see the bottle. The sweetness of the milk sugar was present in addition to lots of roasted malt. Earthy and a slightly sour chocolatey finish. It may sound a bit odd, but I found it to be very wonderful! This is the second effort from this brewery and I hope I can get my hands on several more!

Bottle, from ross. Good nose, sweet. Roasty. Chocolate, oat, chalk, seltzer. Clean orangy dark brown color. Small head that faded quickly to a ring. Ok lacing. Sweet bitter flavor. Has a nice little bite to it. Like aroma, but takes on more of a coffee taste with the chocolate. Medium body, smooth creamy oily mouthfeel. bittersweet finish. Really enjoyed this one. Had it on draught a few months back at the Flying Saucer in Raleigh.

Poured black with a tan head. Aroma was coffee and earth notes. Flavor was some chocolate, coffee, and yes earth notes again. Medium milky body that finished thin.

12 oz bottle: Dark brown, almost opaque w/ a lasting light tan head. Nutty, chocolatey and toasty malt noticeable immediately. Lightly fruity/estery, roasty and toasty as it warms in the aroma. Well balanced w/ a chocolatey dominant flavorl Light roasty, but on the sweet side (as is should be) with a touch of dark grain acidity to cut the sweetness just a bit. Sweet finish & aftertaste. Slightly brown sugary w/ nutty malts. Roasty finish and a bit of bready and caramel malts in the aftertaste w/ the sweetness staying just short of cloying. Lighter medium body, medium carb., smooth m/f. Very flavorful for a milk stout. I was expecting something sort of one dimensional, but I was pleasantly surprised by this one!
