COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional full-bodied stout brewed with lactose (milk sugar). The subtle sweetness imparted by the lactose balances the sharpness of the highly roasted grains which give this delicious beer its black color.

Originally was skeptical about the somewhat funky lactose aroma and taste, but once I became familiar with it, it was ok. Nice body and roastiness. Burnt taste lingers with some bitterness but nice sweetness balances the aftertaste nicely.

Bottle @ home, thanks to jcnielsen for sending. Pours a deep reddish black appearance with a thin brown head. The aroma is a little ashy, some dark chocolate, light coffee, earth, and a little bit of milk sugar. Moderate plus sweetness. Moderate bitterness. Fairly well balanced. Burnt ashy woody flavor. Some coconut milk, earthy coffee. Fine.

UPDATED: APR 13, 2015 Beer it forward project. Bottle poured pitch black with a thin tan head. Aroma is quick to the roasted malt, but quickly gives way to raw cacao and then hits with bitter dark chocolate and ends with almost tart unripe fruit note. Flavor is incredibly similar but in reverse finishing with the dark roasted malt and some lactic sweetness. Smooth. Very good stout.

A complex stout that I found quite pleasing. Flavor is mostly dry, but there’s a subtle sweetness that is not too much. Light-bodied and fresh. Aroma is a balance of roast and fairly strong fruity notes. Fairly creamy texture, but with a slightly edgy finish. Interesting to the last drop, and the type of beer that left me feeling quite good after drinking it too. I have had many good experiences with Duck-Rabbit brews, and this is another to add to that list.
