Commercial Description:
A traditional full-bodied stout brewed with lactose (milk sugar). The subtle sweetness imparted by the lactose balances the sharpness of the highly roasted grains which give this delicious beer its black color.

(Bottle) Pours a black body with a small off-white head. Aroma of roastiness, lactos, oatmeal, nuts, vinous, and licorice. Flavor of raotiness, hops, chocolate, and tobacco.

12oz bottles acquired in trades with Suttree & Johnathan3564 (thanks!). Poured a dark brown with an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malts, and lactose. Tastes of lactose, chocolate, roasted malts, some dark fruits and ended in a light coffee bitter finish. A decent tasting stout.

Comments: A rather simple sweet stout, faultless, but sweet enough that I would not want a whole pint.

Draft... Pitch black ale with a small, off-white head. Clear and ruby when held up to very bright light. Smoky aroma with notes of molasses, chocolate and coffee. Flavor is full of smoke, dark chocolate and light molasses. Unbalanced by residual sweetness. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel with fizzy carbonation. Finishes smokey and bitter-sweet with a hint of espresso.

Bottle courtesy of Springslicker: Pours an opaque black with a thin covering of tan head. Aroma of sweet milk chocolate and a touch of caramel with some roasty coffee notes. Body starts a little thinner but has a nice balance between the sweet caramel and chocolate malts and the bitter roasted malt along with a touch of bittering hops. Finishes smooth and enjoyable. I think this would make a great session beer. Thanks Jay!

Bottled. Burgundy coloured.Light brown head. Sweetness, light roast, some sweet chocolate and vague spices in the aroma. Flavour has light chocolate, light roast, light herbs and some spiced fruit. Is medium to full bodied. Dry. Chocolatish roasted end. Thanks to Immy for this.

My Bottom Line:
Sugary lactose joins the dry roastiness in a vanilla-like diplomatic sweetness which is diluted by the light tartness perceived in the finish. Yet another well-crafted beer from Duck Rabbit, right on style and very drinkable.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam provides some lacing around the browned black.
-The lovely body coats the palate while its fine carbonation quickly washes the plump impression away.
-Supporting hops are felt, but don’t bring much to the flavor profile.
