Commercial Description:
A traditional full-bodied stout brewed with lactose (milk sugar). The subtle sweetness imparted by the lactose balances the sharpness of the highly roasted grains which give this delicious beer its black color.

Bottle. Pours dark brown out of the bottle that looks almost completely black in the glass. The head is fairly thick and dissipates slowly to a ring with a little lacing. The smell is big on sweet roasted malts with just a hint of oatmeal in the background. There is also a significant milk chocolate aroma as well. The taste mirrors the smell with milk chocolate and roasted malts dominating the taste. It’s like liquid malted milk balls and in a good way. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with good carbonation and very creamy overall. I really enjoyed this stout and it’s one of the better sweet stouts I’ve had recently. Highly recommended!

Bottle courtesy of Suttee: Dark brown, near black, that does appear somewhat clear next to the light. There’s a small tan head that dies very quickly. The aroma is roasted malts and coffee - pretty simple, but well done. The taste is bitter chocolate, roasted malts, and that is balanced nicely by a creamy sweetness. It’s a bit sweet than most, but that really works here. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, mouthfeel is thin an water at times.

Bottle. Poured a black color with a small tan head. Mocha and grass aroma. The flavor is coffee and grass, with a hint of other malts. Leaves a sweet milk chocolate taste in your mouth. Medium to full body with a creamy texture.

Bottle. The sweet milk sugar is the first thing I noticed when I took a whiff of this stout. Though the sweet side dominates, it is nicely balanced with bitter and stout dryness. The pour reveals a dark but not opaque brown/black body. The head is average sized and a fizzy light brown. The aroma is sweet with molasses and milk chocolate. Some roasted malts and grain follow, along with vanilla and a faint scent of coffee. The flavor is moderately sweet, but finishes moderately bitter and dry. Medium body, lively carbonation. The texture is quite smooth. Enjoyable.

Draught. Black color, with ruby edges. Medium beige head. Roasty, chocolate and mocha aromas. Flavor is light, with burnt flavors initially, and then cream and chocolate bittersweet in the end. A little thin in flavor. I didn’t think it was too sweet.

12 oz bottle compliments of Beerlando. Pours a very dark pour, black with dark brown notes, hazy body, and enormous fluffy brownish head that laces. Aromas are wonderful: heavy on roasted malts balanced by a milk chocolate and vanilla sweetness with a touch of coffee, onset by the lactose. Very welcoming. Initial is roasted malt and light bitterness, complimented by coffee and milky creaminess that takes the edge off. Roasted malt, mixed with vanilla and cocoa. Well balanced, medium bodied, head dissipates to a decent level. Pretty damn good extra from Beerlando. Cheers!
