4.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
12 ounce bottle- poured a beautiful chestnut brown with a thick khaki head. Plenty of lacing. Aroma was chocolate and coffee, spoiled somewhat by a slight boggy undertone. Tasted exactly like a milk stout should, chocolate, coffee and roast malt, wonderful. Palate was thick and filling. duck Rabbit is two-for-two so far in my book.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tasted at Hops ’n Crafts in Nashville, TN. It was from a Firkin at room temp, very smooth and creamy. The lactose sweetness is very present. Overall a pleasurable experience. Kudos to Hops ’n Crafts to bring this beer to Nashville!

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pour from a 12oz bottle. Big puffy head that takes some time to settle. Nice aroma of chocolate, roasted grains. Taste is sweet malt, some toasted grain and some hints of chocolate. Ends sweet. Palate is surprisingly thin. Simple and rather plain. For what is there it is good but I’d look for some more complexity.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 7/20
Showcasing all the right aromas and flavors but in unbalanced proportions. Unpleasant foamy feel in the mouth and somewhat sour in the mid-section. Not great.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours black with a thick creamy tan head that leaves almost no lacing on the glass as it dissipates quickly. Aroma is strong yet sweet with dark cocoa. Mild carbonation in the mouth with notes of burnt sugar and extreme roasted malt. This is another poor tasting beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Un stout pas très torréfié qui se laisse gagner par des courants lactés, chocolatés. Le corps est martelé d’une effervescence soutenue qui alège le poid que les sucres auraient aimés exercer. Menthe et mélasse sont également perceptibles.

Poured a very dark clear brown with a large tan head. Aroma is very roasted with a touch of dark fruit and lacto. Nutty too. Taste is very chocolaty with nuts and cocoa. Aftertaste slightly sweet with lacto and dry chocolate.

Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass
Appearance – Served a deep brown colored brew boarding on black. Upon serving there was a nice off white head that sat atop the brew. The head faded slowly over time leaving a nice level of lace on the sides of the glass
Smell – The nose is largely dominated by aromas of roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. Mixed with these however are some smells that bring a sweetness to complement the roastier smells. Notes of caramel and milk mingle among the chocolate and malt to give a overall mocha espresso smell.
Taste – The flavors follow the nose very well. The taste begins with a roasted malt and coffee flavor upfront. The coffee is soon met with some milk however giving an almost cappuccino like flavor. More toward the middle flavors of dark chocolate come to the tongue along with a bit more lactose and some vanilla. The taste overall increases in sweetness at this point. More toward the end a bit of bitterness works its way to the tongue almost tasting of a bitter coffee and slightly herbal and earthy taste. All the flavor combine in the end to leave an oddly bitter sweet roasted flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew was on the medium to slightly smoother and creamier side with a carbonation level that was on the slightly higher side. The higher carbonation took away a bit from all the nice cappuccino and roasted flavors of the brew but was made up for by the relatively smother body of the beer.
Overall – Not bad although the slightly bitter flavor at the end of the taste, which didn’t meld so well with the roasted and sweeter lactose tastes, takes away from the beer a bit. Although not the best milk stout in my opinion, it is well worth a try if you have the opportunity.
