Commercial Description:
A traditional full-bodied stout brewed with lactose (milk sugar). The subtle sweetness imparted by the lactose balances the sharpness of the highly roasted grains which give this delicious beer its black color.

Aroma was vanilla-ey, caramel sweet bread, with sweet instant coffee. Clear brown color, not what I think of in a stout. Flavor was sweet, not overpowering good instant coffee and caramel maltiness with moderate esters and hops. Palate was sweet and thin with a mild but apparent bitterness. Not what I would look for in a milk stout, not rich enough; more of a brown ale.

Bottle:   Deep cola in color, large frothy beige head, decent lacing.   Roasty nose, lactose sweetness, light ash.   Sweet roastiness on the tongue, ash, carob, nuts, with that ever present lactose.   Quite airy on the tongue, spritzy.   Finishes with more ash and even some raisin like aspects.   Even some earth and licorice.   Moderate body and mouthfeel, a little too airy though.   Wished it was a little maltier, heavy.   Not bad, decent flavors at least.   Thanks for the bottle Tom!

Bottle. Poured black in color with a small creamy head with good lacing. The aroma was of roasted molasses, coffee and chocolate malts and doughy yeast scent. It tasted slighty bitter initially with a mildly bitter-sweet coffee-molasses flavor at the finish that lasted an average duration. Mouthfeel was full bodied and creamy in texture. Overall a great stout.

high carbonation, taxing moutfeel-rather sour--a little bit of a challenge to finish.

Bottled. Black with a little brown shining through. Brown head. aroma is light chocolate and light fruit. Roasted flavour of fruits and coffee with malted sweetness providing almost a milk taste.

Bottle. Pours a deep black (though translucent while pouring) with a thin dark beige head. Light roast, nice sweetness leaning a little towards caramel and some subtle coffee tones. Quite smooth, lots of nice lactose sweetness paired up with a nice roast flavor. Finishes with some nice back and forth with some sweetness and roast bitterness. Simple, elegant, and really tasty.

Draft. Pours near black with a tan head. Roasty and sweet malt in the aroma with a hint of chocolate. The flavor has roasted malt up front, a vanilla/chocolate like sweetness and a nice burnt malt finish.

(bottle - 12 oz) Dark brown pour with a creamy tan head. Aroma is mildly roasty but rather sweet and creamy. Flavor is much the same. A mild roasted note at the beginning with a very sweet and creamy followup. The sweetness really enhances the roasted malts but then overpowers it a little bit and leaves a light hint of caramel and cream. A bit thin but really nice and easy to drink.
