3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 12, 2011 Bottle.Poured a nice rich black in color with a small medium brown creamy head that was mostly lasting and produced some good lacing.
The aroma was of a strong dose of roasted grain malts and a moderate sweet doughy yeast with notes of molasses, chocolate and coffee.
It tasted slightly sweet and rather malty with a hint of chocolate initially and the became a mildly bitter-sweet with a coffee-molasses flavor at the finish that left the flavor hanging around on the taste buds for a decent amount of time.
Mouthfeel was full in body and smooth & creamy in texture with a flat carbonation.
Overall this stout is superb, one of the best I have tasted up to this point. It is very easy to drink and will leave you wanting another.

Light almost. Not a huge after taste. Not hugely sweet and tastes dark but not too much. Light aroma.

3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
first time trying a beer from this regional brewery. pleasantly surprised. by it taste. The beer had a black appearance with a thin tan head, my only disappointment.. Aroma is that of a roasted malt. Flavor is that of being in a chocolate factory and getting to try the samples. starts with raw cocoa beans, then transforms smoothly to bitter dark baking chocolate and ends with milky like chocolate covered fruit. Smooth. Very good stout. Anxious to try other products from this brewery.
