Commercial Description:
Very dark in color. This robust porter features a pronounced flavor of roasted grains reminiscent of dark chocolate. Also, Paul and Brandon add oats to the grist to give a subtle round silkiness to the mouthfeel.

Bottle courtesy Shag/Clash. Poured a deep brown-black color, nice off-white to tannish head, nothing huge or fancy, yet good retention. The aroma was vinous, dark malts, chocolate most prominent, not a lot of roast. The flavor was rich chocolate and dark fruit/vinousy notes, with a rather sweet mocha finish, somewhat thick in body, a touch of hops/carbonation also in there, yet the aftertaste rather sweet. Residual sugars seemed high, almost too sweet, yet the after after taste revealed a roasted malt bitterness that came back around and lingered there, although not a bitter beer by any stretch. A neat beer, pretty good, yet a touch too sweet to make my favorites list. Thanks, Matt, nice selection!

12oz bottle, . . .enjoy by 04/07--I’m in luck. Courtesy of BleacherBum, thanks Ryan! Pours a clear deep ruby with a one finger beige head, little retention. Nose of milk chocolate, brown sugar, roasted malts, and light grain. Flavor is dry roasted malt up front, followed by a bit of tang, milk chocolate, and a dry roasty smoky finish. Moderate to high carbonation, medium body. Did not find this outstanding.

Near black pour with a nice looking, creamy tan head. Roasted coffee aroma. Pretty heavy carbonation. Chocolate and coffee dominate the taste with a very bitter, smokey finish. Pretty solid porter.

Opaque black with a medium-sized, lasting brown sugar head. Aroma is mild coffee with hints of smoke, sugar and pepper. Flavor is initially malt chocolate sweet, then some smoke and slight hop tingle. Smoky, dry fruit and chocolate aftertaste. Palate is medium and a little tingle to it. Nice.

Draught at the Half Barrel In Knoxville. Had a nice dark black color with a thin brown head. The flavor of the roasted coffee and chocolate hits you followed by fruit undertones that gives it a sweet finish. Very Good. Im looking forward to trying their other brews.

On tap at The Federal. Dark and stouty looking with a light tan head, it’s hard to call this a porter! The nose is cream with subtle sweet malty roast. Well balanced, maybe some acidity. Smooth and creamy on the pallate with average carbonation, rather mouthfilling. The flavor surely doesn’t disappoint. Creamy rich, slightly roasted and rather sweet malt. Slight acid from the roast and/or alcohol, floral hops. Creamy finish, wth a sharp dry aftertaste. A real treat, I wish I could get it locally!
