3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Twelve ounce bottle from NC. Duck Rabbit Porter pours a deep black brown opaque glass with a thick head of small bubbles that quickly disappear. Nose is deep roasted coffee with a hint of caramelized molasses.Taste is just a hint of sweet caramel/molasses on the tongue that fades quickly. body is noticably thin and the taste is gone quickly, but after the swallow there is a good finish with warming coffee bitters. interesting beer.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Best before August of 2012.
A: Almost completely opaque garnet body with only the tiniest light showing through the light, a thin tan head sits on top.
S: Strong aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, and dark fruits with the fruits coming through really strong.
T: Very slight roasted malts, but a huge flavor of dark fruits and a bitter dark chocolate finish and aftertaste. The fruit flavor is too overpowering to fully enjoy this giving a tarty flavor.
M: Medium bodied with slightly fizzy carbonation.
O: This is probably the worst porter I’ve ever had, why is there so much fruit flavor and aroma in this? It’s as if Welch’s made a porter.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
From a bottle at home (drank Feb ’12) .
Pours a rich black colour with a good finger of thick beige head which soon begins to subside reducing to half a finger within a couple of minutes.
The aroma was of roasted malts, caramel and brown sugar. Not a ’big’ smell to this beer.
The taste was more of a let down than the smell! A little smokey tasting, roasted malts and little caramel in the background, pretty much mimicking the smell but weaker in actual flavour! A slightly sweet and dry aftertaste.
I didn’t enjoy the mouthfeel at all. Prickly carbonation and far too much carbonation also too watery.
Overall a disappointing porter that got worse as the journey progressed. It looks good, but that’s as good as it gets! Way too watery and too highly carbonated. Will not go near this again!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours very dark brown with a cream-colored head. Aroma is roast, chocolate, coffee. Taste is the same but with a bit of smoked wood and a bit of mineral. Not a perfect porter, but pretty damn near it.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours deep and dark with hints of ruby around the edges. Smaller khaki mocha head that settles to a ring. Nose is some chocolate and dark roasted malts, some cola and that pervasive duck-rabbit tartness. Taste is mostly sweet with some bitterness to round out and a touch of tart. Palate is medium bodied, rich, pretty slick, with some pronounced roast on the end and a little zap of tanginess. Really nice, full of character, rich flavor. Good stuff.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
I probably should’ve drank the porter first and the amber second, as the mediocre quality of the amber immediately disinclined me to be impressed with this offering. Still, it has a very nice smooth mouthfeel, rich chocolate taste, and a pleasing dark appearance. Tried at the Cunigan’s tasting party in 2012.

Dark brown; thin tan head. Slightly salty flavor, and very fruity, berries. Berry and light coffee finish.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Pours ruby brown. Very sweet malt aroma. Sharp flavor of green apple on the front with a delayed, bitter finish of roasted malt. Thin, soft mouthfeel with touch of carbonation. Some unusual flavors for a porter, not to my liking.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Black with a thin ring. Expected dark malt coffee chocolate flavors. Actually quite tremendously blended. Though the notes seem better suited to a stout and the body here reads way too thin. Decent porter but in a way it tries too hard that it ends up as a watered down stout. Still, the quality shines through and would still recommend.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
First, I think this may have been a bad bottle since there was some unexpected tartness. The nose is roasted grain with mild chocolate and coffee notes. The beer is black with a fading tan head. The taste is chocate and coffee. The beer was a little lighter than medium bodied, and as mentioned, had a slight sour quality. Decent not great.
