Very dark in color. This robust porter features a pronounced flavor of roasted grains reminiscent of dark chocolate. Also, Paul and Brandon add oats to the grist to give a subtle round silkiness to the mouthfeel.

Dark chocolately aroma. The taste is dark chocolate and dark coffee. A little thin in the taste. And over carbonated for the style.

Bottle at Flying Saucer, Nashville, TN, 4.5.16. Black. Roasty aroma with lots of cocoa and vanilla bean. Bitter, roasty, then a little sweet and some vanilla in the mouth. Medium body, chocolate and slightly roasty finish, carbonated.

BBD not notched. Pours black. Below normal head volume, very poor lacing and poor retention of what little head there was. Very good nose of dark chocolate, light roast, caramel notes and light molasses. Slightly above light body, but not heavy light. The texture is smooth. World class carbonation / body balance. Effervescence begins with a nice mid palate burst and culminates in a finely bubbled prickly finish. The flavor profile is good, but lacks the complexity to achieve very good. It begins with light roast then adds a bit of char. The middle has almost no bitterness. What there is char based. Just enough sweetness arrives to make the bitter chocolate noticeable. The finish is a slow fade of light bitter chocolate and char.

This porter has roughly foaming and partially renewable foam. It emits a powerful and delicious aroma of roasted malt with distinct coffee notes. The taste is initially a little water, but quickly reveals the coffee and English licorice on a malty background of roasted character. Not so many special qualities of this porter, only one type of right and good porter who has just what such a one must have
