TURDFERGUSON (1136), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Jul 22, 2008 Carolina Crew Gathering Greenville, NC. Thanks to Frumpty, facto, and of course Paul for this one. Nice roasty and sweet nose. Flavor is very sweet with honey and chocolate. Chocolate syrup abounds the palate. An awesome mead unlike any I have ever tried. Keep the braggots coming!!
ucusty (1077), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Jul 21, 2008 Carolina Crew Gathering Greenville, NC. Thanks to Frumpty, facto, and of course Paul for this one. Dark viscous pour. Big honey aroma. Big and malty with notes of roast, cinnamon, and chocolate. Sweet honey finish. A touch too sweet for me, but what the hell do I know? JCB (1016), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jul 20, 2008 Tasted at the Carolina Crew gathering, Greenville - thanks to Ryan and Facto for sharing! Dark, somewhat oily pour with an almost serene stillness to it. The nose is pretty lovely, combining the darker qualities of the RIS - bitter choc and roasted malts - with the truly endless honey character of this brew. That supple sweetness just goes on forever. In fact, as impressive as I found it, this was almost too sugary for me, though I did like the note of cinnamon that caps it off. bu11zeye (3656), Frisco, Texas, USA Jun 25, 2008 (Special hand-bottle sample from the brewers @ ACBF) Pours a black body with a small creamy beige head. Aroma of honey, molasses, roasted malt, and chocolate. Flavor of roasted malt, honey, and light coffee with a nice warming effect from the alcohol. Very interesting creation! Thanks Ryan and Matt! aubreya (670), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jun 11, 2008 I tried this at the Blues and Brews Festival. It was very dark with an thin creamy, off-white head. The aroma was very strong honey, coffee, molasses, sweet malt, and alcohol. The flavor was similarly sweet honey and alcohol. The palate was very thick-bodied. The finish was warm and sweet.
