Bottle courtesy of wagenvolks. Poured into a snifter. Completely black with a rather small mahogany head that recedes quickly to a meandering swirl of foam. Aromas of chocolate flavored graham crackers, lots of roastiness, some lactic sweetness, and some plum/grape. Burnt coffee flavor with some chocolate and brown sugar sweetness, noticeable alcohol, and a subtle grape cough syrup note. Body and carbonation could stand to be a bit more substantial. Good clean finish with a pleasant warmth from the booze.

Thanks to puzzl for giving me a bottle of this. Dark black inky pour with a fast-fading head. Aroma is roasty and very chocolately. Sweet rich cocoa, roast, licorice and molasses. Flavour is quite unusual. There is all of the usual roasty/chocolatey character, but also an intense chewy earthy roastiness with a light salty/sour quality that I’m not sure I care for. Heavy intense roasty bitterness that clobbers anything else that might be in here. Yeah, this is a miss for me.

Pours a black color with a brown head. Aroma is of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, dark fruits, and molasses. Flavor is the same with a decent warming on the finish. Pretty impressed with this brew.

12oz. bottle from trade with TURDFEGUSON, thanks Sam. Poured very black of course, with a little red in the bottom of the glass. Smells great, some mollasses, very rich. Good amount of hops in the front, with coffee coming in the aftertaste. very tasty.

Bottle. Poured black with a creamy brown head that settles to a ring and left light lace. Initial aroma of chocolate milk but as it warms some roast and dark fruits also come out. The flavor finds lots of roast and chocolate with a coffee background and light alcohol. Full body with a warming feeling and a bitter aftertaste. Very nice RIS!

12 oz bottle courtesy of dkachur. Pours an opaque black color with a small tan head. The aroma is big and complex with black licorice, coffee, dark fruits and molasses. The flavor pretty much follows the nose with the dark fruits taking center stage and the coffee outlying in the wings. The mouthfeel is silky smooth. The finish is long with lingering licorice and black walnuts. Overall: One of the best stouts that I have had in quite some time. Very tasty. Thanks Dan.
