Barnyard aroma was searching for more but couldn’t find it/ Black body with good tan head. Good roasted coffee and chocolate flavors with some alcohol warming. Burnt roasted grain on palate that leaves the eyes weary and the body week. Decen brew left looking for more like other immp stouts have to offer. undsioux7 (555), Cologne, Minnesota, USA

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 12, 2008 One of my favorite all time beers. It pours a nice red brick with decent head. Aroma of raisin and chocolate, and a flavor of slightly subdued chocolate. Great beer, and about as much flavor as you can get from a high alcohol % beer. MaltOMeal (652), Land of Sugar, Texas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 11, 2008 12 oz bottle courtesy of OldGrowth. Pours thick and black with a beautiful, sparkling brown head. Head produced great lacing. Smell was of cocoa, espresso, some alcohol and some funkiness I can’t put my finger on. Taste was of dry cocoa powder, espresso and roasty, burnt malt. Mouthfeel was thick, with a little oiliness with a bitter and slight alcoholic aftertaste. JoeinUccle (902), Brussels, Belgium
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 10, 2008 A big, black beauty with one of the best noses around. Pours motor-oil black with a big, thick, brown head. Nose is full of dark chocolate and dark fruit/raisin-mincemeat, tinges of espresso. Full, sweetish flavor with a touch of dark-rye sourness, light dark-chocolate bitterness. Very roasty backdrop of course. Expected a thicker mouthfeel, it’s a bit slick. Lightly sweet, roasty and faintly smoky finish. Never quite lives up to the promise of the aroma, but what a promise that was. Sammy (3999), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 8, 2008 Pours black, minimal head. Classic bold bitter RIS though only average mouthfeel, and extra coconut chocolate in there for sweetening and drinakbility. A nice RIS for sure, but a bit disapointed in relation to the ratings. I think this part of the world need get used to a wider sampling of what an RIS is. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 7, 2008 Pours tar like and foaming over the edge. Milky skin of tanned marshmallow is indefinite. Sharp and commanding aroma of chocolate, prune, and minerals; some oiliness and soft, leafy floral hops and bits of tropical and dark fruit. Lots of burnt butterscotch, tropical fruits and espresso; a lot going on, and generally pleasant. Flavor is tacky and sweet like maple syrup poured into cola, and ridden with green apple and awkward citrus sweetness; still gives a tepid hint of dry, floral tone, but the sugars are really dominating. Some hints of pear, molasses, and the vague, tinny sourness of jameson. Palate is tangy and rough; medium to full in body and simply overwhelming in sweetness. Lots of unrefined sugar and honey in the lengthy finish, giving a bit of rich roast and tobacco ash. A very dull experience altogether. Thanks Ken!
