4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Black color; generous creamy head. Nice aroma, coffeish, creamy. Thick body, quite oily, strong chocolate and dark caramel flavor, some roasted malt too, a hint of liquorice and cinnamon; everything is very well mixed. Strong final, well bitter; if I can just dislike something, it’s a bit of sourness in the end. Powerful, excellent.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: DEC 22, 2010 Bottle, 10%. Good roasted malt aroma, hint of vanilla and perhaps smoke, seems even to have a bit of whiskey aroma. Black colour. Small stable dark brown colour. Good roasted flavour, hard roasted malts. A little malt sourness, or perhaps it is from the hops. Late roasted malt bitterness. Still a bit of vanilla in the flavour. Quite good - the sourness puts me off a bit at first, but after it has breathed, it gives the beer a bit of edge and does well to balance it off.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
16th June 2008. Not by any means watery but not as thick as a lot of Impy Stouts. Lots of mildy toasted malt. Molasses and subtle tones of chocolate and coffee. No real bitterness. Well joined up.
