Marsiblursi (1425), Gö te la borrrrg, Sweden Jun 22, 2008 (Bottle thanks to whoever sent this) Pours a beautiful deep mahogany red colour with a small head. The aroma is malty up front with some tones of buttery caramel, toffee, maple syrup, brown sugar, bread, nuts - almond walnut shells, and light smoke. Dark fruity and light spicy undertones of figs, (rum) raisins, cinnamon buns, vanilla, mild white pepper, oven baked apples and cherries. Alcohol, dough and earth is also present. The flavour is medium malty, and light hoppy with light sourish sting in the finish. Tones of caramel, toffee, smoke, nuts, syrup, brown sugar, some dark fruits, sourish berries/cherries, light spicy and some alcohol, Bit vinous. The mouthfeel is thick and a bit oily but, on the other hand, maybe a bit too syrupy. Medium to heavily sweet, light bitter and light to medium acid. Sticky malt and a light wine-ish tartness lingering. Medium to full bodied.
dchmela (768), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 1, 2008 Thanks to Durhambeer for this 12oz bottle. Pours a nice ruby reddish brown with a thick tan head. Big malty aroma with candy sweetness, dark fruits and roasted grains. Thick malty body, lots of roasted grain flavor and a dark fruit sweetness. Finishes is excellent, a little roasty and chocolaty yet not thick. Really nice and I would have thought a Baltic Porter because of the dark fruit sweetness. golubj (1028), Redwood City, California, USA Sep 28, 2008 Bottle, thanks to ucusty. Brown / burgandy pour, no head. Aroma is really sweet, dark fruit, vanilla, and caramel. The flavor is the same, very sugary and fruity, but with a slightly roasted aspect. Decent for the style. Hophead22 (251), Redlands, California, USA Sep 28, 2008 12oz bottle from a trade with TURDFERGUSON. Dark amber pour, off white head. Almost tastes like a barley wine, very good beer. mfaulke (73), clemson, South Carolina, USA Sep 26, 2008 Very close to a barleywine for me, just a little lighter. Sweet, tastes like fig, with a nice sticky palate. The dry finish is a nice touch. An enjoyable brew. These Duck Rabbit seasonals are pretty solid. Well done. SSSteve (1565), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Sep 19, 2008 Updated: Sep 22, 2008reddish caramel colored beer with no head and decent lacing. sweet, cherry robotussin, medicinal aroma. flavor is again medicinal and sweet but with some nuts and caramel and a big alcohol presence. syrupy-sticky thick palate. gets better as it warms but unfortunately it’s just too boozy right now. reminds me of liquor.
