wingman333 (160), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Sep 23, 2007 This is much like their barleywine, very sweet, and sour, but with a bitterness that reminds me of coffee and maybe some kind of herb. No head at all. Well-balanced and dark, this is another gem from Duck-Rabbit.
tarheels86 (37), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Oct 6, 2008 330 mL Bottle. Holy crap these get picked off the shelves fast. Pours a clear ruby red with very little head. Guy below must’ve really dumped it in there. Lots of brown sugar, malt, and dark fruit. Body is very sweet and malty but the 8% alcohol is very apparent- almost like straight up vanilla extract. Close to a barleywine and thus very appealing. Aftertaste is dry and tart. I prefer the DR Barleywine over this I’ll have to say. The alcohol has too high a presence and not enough creamy body to balance. dchmela (772), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 1, 2008 Thanks to Durhambeer for this 12oz bottle. Pours a nice ruby reddish brown with a thick tan head. Big malty aroma with candy sweetness, dark fruits and roasted grains. Thick malty body, lots of roasted grain flavor and a dark fruit sweetness. Finishes is excellent, a little roasty and chocolaty yet not thick. Really nice and I would have thought a Baltic Porter because of the dark fruit sweetness. golubj (1029), Redwood City, California, USA Sep 28, 2008 Bottle, thanks to ucusty. Brown / burgandy pour, no head. Aroma is really sweet, dark fruit, vanilla, and caramel. The flavor is the same, very sugary and fruity, but with a slightly roasted aspect. Decent for the style. Hophead22 (252), Redlands, California, USA Sep 28, 2008 12oz bottle from a trade with TURDFERGUSON. Dark amber pour, off white head. Almost tastes like a barley wine, very good beer. mfaulke (73), clemson, South Carolina, USA Sep 26, 2008 Very close to a barleywine for me, just a little lighter. Sweet, tastes like fig, with a nice sticky palate. The dry finish is a nice touch. An enjoyable brew. These Duck Rabbit seasonals are pretty solid. Well done.
