Bottled. Duck-Rabbit continues to improve - I had no idea this was high-alcohol until now, though I assumed it was from the mouthfeel and flavor. Deep brown color, very fruity aroma and flavor with some nice hop in there too. Quite good.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From the 12. fl. oz. bottle sent to me from a non RB-member in trade. The pour is a deep amber color with a quick lasting off-white head. The aroma is beautifully malty with sweet sugary notes and dark fruit. It smells so nice and inviting. The body is creamy and medium. The taste is right up there among the most traditional of Scottish Wee Heavies with plenty of sweet malts and mellow finish. 8%? Hard to know that is the case.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rich, complex, warming, hearty. Pours with little head, a dark reddish-brown color. Sweet, but the sweetness is balanced with a richness and is pleasant. High alcohol content is evident in the aroma. Aroma mostly of malt and wood, but very complex. Heavy and filling; I can’t imagine drinking more than one; after drinking one bottle I was very satisfied. Only slight carbonation. In spite of the sweetness and heaviness of this brew, it left a clean, dry feeling on the palate. Very pleasant. I normally don’t like beers with sweetness and strongly-evident high alcohol content, but this was very well-executed.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
This beer is interesting in how strong a flavor it has based on the water and hops. I am fond of Ruck-Rabbit and love their more common styles, however, this beer has a slight, hmmmm, oyster taste to it. I know the water around that area and this might be an effect, but it was quite a shock to taste. VERY pronounced dry hop presence with a moderate malt balance. Quite heavy as the style suggests and is not one to be consumed at once. Savor this one but be aware that you might taste some interesting flavors.

Bottle, thanks sevenhokie! Sweet caramel malt aroma with some peat and a touch of smoke. Pours deep caramel brown with a medium tan head and good lacing. Caramel malt with a hint of brown sugar to start. Finishes extremely smooth with a rich peatiness and a bit of smoke and booze. Excellent scotch ale.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at the Perimeter Taco Mac. Dark brown color, with a small, tan head. The aroma is vanilla, caramel, peat, and light smoke. The flavor is very sweet, with light earthiness. Medium body, smooth, and a little lively on the tongue. This is a nice, mild, and very approachable scotch ale. Well done.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Ar: Caramel and deep toasted malt - clean rosy alcohol - sherry-like oxidation.
Ap: Amber with a bright red color - slightly hazy - small light tan head with moderate retention, leaving a thin ring of foam and some big bubbles.
T: Sweet caramel, with a roasted edge - sherry and nougat, somewhat sharp - a warming, but clean and well-aged alcohol - clean yeast profile, with a touch of apple sweetness - rich melanoidin flavor on the finish, which lingers - very low bitterness.
P: Medium-full body with high carbonation - finish is dry.
O: This beer aged pretty well - the caramel, nougat, and malt flavors are very dominant, but come off as a bit sharp - overall, pretty solid.
