COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
They say an elephant never forgets. When it comes to this double IPA, you won’t either. This gentle giant certainly certainly has mad hops, but ferments out dry (,) so it’s not too malty on the finish. Clocking in at 10.8 percent ABV, it’s definitely not for the timid mice amongst you. Put on your trunks and dive in.

Pours a hazy, orange-copper with a off white head. Piney aroma with a little bit of citrus. Taste is not too good - a little mediciny. Many other better IPAs or DIPAs out there. Will not buy again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Orange amber with a bright white long-lasting head and very nice lace. Aromas of citrus - grapefruit, orange, pineapple - and bready malts. Big hop bitterness up front with a biscuity malt foundation. Medium body, lively carbonation, creamy mouthfeel and a crisply bitter finish. Ok, but nothing special.

It poured a hazy orange color with a white head. The aroma was of pine, grapefruit and some sweetness. The taste was of bread, caramel, grass, and some light floral notes.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2014 Can from whole foods. Piney aroma. Light golden color with foamy white head. Sweet malt and some pine hoppy flavors. Not bad but not really to style. If you like it sweeter ales and are carefully with the ABV you will enjoy. Definitely not for me (left the remaining 3 cans in my hotel room when I departed LA).

Can from Total Wine in Huntington Beach, CA. Pours coppery gold with a creamy white head. Nice hoppy aroma that seems resin. Full bodied. Flavor is somehow just too malty, and gets a touch metallic? Odd aftertaste. Detergent? This is just disconnected. Things don’t work together.

Wally’s, LA can: Pours orange with a creamy white head. Aroma is some pine, resin, and plenty of sugary malts. Taste is much too sweet for my liking. There ain’t really enough hops to balance out the sugar. Not really much to it.

Barreras (1047) - Diamond Bar, California, USA - AUG 8, 2014
Pours a light amber color with a heavy malt aroma. Taste is full floral that tingles on the tongue. Once the initial bitterness disappears, the beer is fresh and clean. A bit earthy, but not overly bitter, enjoyable.

Wittales (646) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - JUN 18, 2014
Appearance was clear orange gold with lasting creamy white 1 finger head , rings of lacing. Aromas are sweet crystal, pale malts with citrus fruits fighting for dominants but loses. Alcohol is present though. Taste are weak pine resin and orange marmalade, then way to sweet malts with pine resin. The warming alcohol distracts from the hops. Palate was creamy smooth CO2 with full-medium body, then an lasting unbalanced alcoholic finish. Just need to dial back the malts, then the alcohol will subside. 8 or 8.5% should do.

Can poured dark orange with a nice fluffy white head. Aroma was citrus fruits, sugar, pine, and kind of musty. Flavor was way too sweet up front and it frankly was not that good. I did get some bitter pine and earth notes in the finish, which was nice, but I’d pass on ever trying this again. One positive was the alcohol wasmasked pretty well.

On my second flight of the day inside the Back Bay Bar (Wholefoods, Newport Beach): 13th April 2014. Sat next to ’Wolf Among Weeds’, it looked better but didn’t win in anything else (sorry Dudes). Clear amber body with a good white crown on top. Hops obviously rule the roost with this beer but it lacked finesse and style somewhat. Malty notes arrived as it warmed a little and the alcohol was always just under the surface waiting to bite you if your sip turned into a gulp. I am trying to enjoy these hoppy brews California seems to like brewing but I struggle with some of them.
