COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
They say an elephant never forgets. When it comes to this double IPA, you won’t either. This gentle giant certainly certainly has mad hops, but ferments out dry (,) so it’s not too malty on the finish. Clocking in at 10.8 percent ABV, it’s definitely not for the timid mice amongst you. Put on your trunks and dive in.

Pours a hazy, orange-copper with a off white head. Piney aroma with a little bit of citrus. Taste is not too good - a little mediciny. Many other better IPAs or DIPAs out there. Will not buy again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance was clear orange gold with lasting creamy white 1 finger head , rings of lacing. Aromas are sweet crystal, pale malts with citrus fruits fighting for dominants but loses. Alcohol is present though. Taste are weak pine resin and orange marmalade, then way to sweet malts with pine resin. The warming alcohol distracts from the hops. Palate was creamy smooth CO2 with full-medium body, then an lasting unbalanced alcoholic finish. Just need to dial back the malts, then the alcohol will subside. 8 or 8.5% should do.

Can poured dark orange with a nice fluffy white head. Aroma was citrus fruits, sugar, pine, and kind of musty. Flavor was way too sweet up front and it frankly was not that good. I did get some bitter pine and earth notes in the finish, which was nice, but I’d pass on ever trying this again. One positive was the alcohol wasmasked pretty well.

16oz can, pours medium orange amber, bright white head. Aroma is citrus with sweet malt. Taste is bitter orange peel, pine, caramel malt, grapefruit, alcohol. Very bitter on the finish.

On my second flight of the day inside the Back Bay Bar (Wholefoods, Newport Beach): 13th April 2014. Sat next to ’Wolf Among Weeds’, it looked better but didn’t win in anything else (sorry Dudes). Clear amber body with a good white crown on top. Hops obviously rule the roost with this beer but it lacked finesse and style somewhat. Malty notes arrived as it warmed a little and the alcohol was always just under the surface waiting to bite you if your sip turned into a gulp. I am trying to enjoy these hoppy brews California seems to like brewing but I struggle with some of them.

From can. The pour’s light golden amber with a creamy white head. Abrasive bitter bomb nose. Loads of orange peel with a strong caramel malt presence. Concentrated cantaloupe sweetness. The taste isn’t particularly pleasant. Unrefined bitterness chokes out any subtlety that may exist in the beer. Bitter for bitterness’ sake isn’t something I look for in a IIPA, or any other style of beer for that matter. Astringent bitterness dominates. A little bit of caramelized orange is also present. Slightly oily, active carbonation. Overall, there isn’t much skill on display here. A very poor effort.

Amber pour with some floaties, moderate sized head, good lace/retention. Aroma is citrus, caramel, light grapefruit and lemon, hint of diacetyl. Medium bodied, moderate bitterness, alcohol hidden well, quite drinkable.

Bottle; dark orange/amber color with a huge, long lasting and frothy off white head. Aroma was a bit odd; dirty dishwater, vanilla, sugar, earth, fruit and pine. Just didn’t quite click all the way. Flavor had a pronounced sweetness at the front, with a good dose of earth/pine in the finish. Finish was slightly abrupt at times. Alcohol fairly well hidden. Not great, but fairly good.

Short: A harsh, vegetal, triple IPA loaded with specialty malt

Origin: Tasting Size: 16oz can, 5oz sample Price: $3- Date: 1/6/2014
Long: Thank you DedicatedToFun for this tick. Low carbonation, clear orange pour, low foam. Nose is sticky oddities, cabbage/DMS, acetone, apple juice. Palate is harsher, metallic, licking a penny. Palate wrecker with astringency and maybe some butterscotch in the background.
Flaws: Metallic, Vegetal/DMS/Cabbage, Astringent, Sticky, Acetone, Acetaldehyde/Apple, Undercarbonated

Draft pour. Clear amber body with lasting ivory head. Spicy, skanky, cat spray aromas. Nice spicy, dry herbal hop flavors with a typical light malt base brew---nicely drying finish, smooth mouthfeel___good.
