Very dark on the pour. Piney and a somewhat burnt caramel flavor. Malty, nutty flavors with a light sweet roasty aftertaste.

Can split at Mother Arch during the 2014 Zwanze Celebrations, thanks to Fergus, 20/09/14. Mahogany brown with a big old chestnut coloured covering that retains well. Nose is toffee, dark malts, light metallic waftings, dark fruit. Taste comprises a pinch of cocoa, spice, earthy tones, toffee, dark fruits. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Not much depth or variety to this number but a drinkable affair none the less.

16 oz can. From alesbymail.co.uk.
This might be a bit unfresh as the beer came out of the can very eagerly. A huge frothy light tan head and reddish dark brown colour pour. Maybe it’s allrite as what you get from the grandma ain’t that fresh either... Oh... Sorry! Nuts, fudge, toffee, toasted pecans (really!), malt and mild hops in the aroma. Not bad at all. I like pecans. The flavour is much drier with coffee, dry bitter hops, liquorice, some sweetness and malt. I don’t normally dig Brown Ales but this is tasty. Thanks! It’s nice it’s not English style Brown... although the can says it is...

Can thanks to Fergus. It pours clear deep amber with a small beige. The nose is earthy, toasty, caramel, toffee, candy, brown bread and fruit cake. The taste is crisp, bitter-sweet, caramel, toffee, brown bread, vanilla, nut and fruit cake. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not a whole lot of depth, but drinkable enough.

473 ml can.
Pours dark red-brown color with a huge frothy head. Nutty and surprisingly earthy and even spicy aroma, some sweet caramel malt notes and hay Harsh bitter malty palate with some mild chocolaty notes and faint orange, way too much carbonation here, makes it feel watery, lots of sweet sugary notes here too, maybe molasses. Drinkable but I don’t like this very much.

Can from Total Wine in Huntington Beach, CA. Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma is either a bit sour or I’m having trouble with pecans. Med body. I think it is a bit sour. Do get chocolate and pecan. Doesn’t finish "right". Can too much nut seem sour? Not super sour, just annoyingly so. For pie I expected more sweet.

Pint can from Marketplace Alehouse and Deli, Doncaster. Clear, dark ruby red. Halo and film of tan head. Soft, dried fruit. Cocoa powder. Caramelised nuts. Taste is cocoa dry. Light, nutty sweetness. Dry, woody palate. Sugary finish, with a light bitter close.
