On tap, pours a dark plum color, great lacing, small head. Aromas of soapy shampoo, lemongrass, peppercorn, hibiscus, and other slight tropical notes. Taste was similiar but had a nice malt smoothness for balance.

Draft at Farmers’ Cabinet. Pours a dark ruby red color that’s almost brown with golden amber edges and a two finger off white head that slowly settles into a lasting ring.  The glass  is left coated with chunks of soapy lacing. Earthy aroma with a soil like quality that meshes with the funky yeast and zesty spice notes.  Hints of grass, straw, roasted malt, pepper and subtle fruit. Medium bodied with a slight syrupy, medicinal character.  Lots of bready yeast with subtle funk.  String spice presence with hints of pepper, clove and coriander.  This is countered by sweet malts and very faint roast along with some dark fruit.  Decent but a bit odd.  My least favorite of the three in the series I’ve had so far.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2012 Deep brown/black body, medium sized tan head. Spotty lacing. Herbal nose with lemongrass, pepper, citric notes, and some sweet malts. Malts come through more in the flavor as chocolate, roast, and dark fruits challenge the lighter citric and herbal notes. Relatively light bodied given the darker malt flavors. Interesting, but a bit conflicted for me.
