On tap. poured a dark color with nice lacing and a small head. Aromas of squeazed lime juice, windex, hops, pine, numerous fruits. Taste was comparable to aroma but a little roastier and ashy on tongue. Other notes of fatty duck, and peppercorn, Very good black ipa. Super soft mouth.

Tap at the brewery in VA thanks to Terry et al. Pours clear, deep red with a smaller tan head. Good retention. Nose is piney, citrus, sharp grapefruit pith. Taste is quite orange and grapefruit peel bitter almost like Black IPA with quenching citrus character. No roast which is nice despite the SRM. Actually some muted bacon and truffle. Rich and gamey. Lovely. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap. Pours dark brown with a medium, fizzy light tan head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is cookie and toast malt, dark fruity esters and earthy hops and nutty notes. Flavor is malt dominant with medium hops and bitterness, fruity esters and a dry finish. Medium body, warmth and carbonation.

At the source, courtesy of Terry, thank you sir! Hazy dark brown color, small tan head. Aroma of pine, grass, subtle coffee grounds. Taste is burnt toast, coffee, cocoa powder, pine resin. Nice.

Thank you Terry! Dark dark brown pour with slight hints of red when held to the light. Patent like roasted barley and coca nib notes give way to piney herbals and hints of tropical fruit. Medium body with a bone dry finish. Really interesting beer here. What black IPA should be...

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2013 Black-brown body, with an inch of light tan creamy head on top. Moderate lacing. Assertive nose hits immediately. Resinous pine, lemon-orange citric hops, mild roasted malts. Flavor is similar, with the pine coming out a bit more. Medium to full bodied. Steady carbonation with a crisp bitter finish.
