Over the last 30 years, The Fresh Market has introdued plenty of great items. After three decades, we have found the perfect Ale. The chestnut color of this Imperial Brown Ale highlights a superb balance of sweet toffee and noticeable hope presence, resulting in an imperially smooth brew.

Bottle 142/1,200 from The Fresh Market in Greenville. Very dark brown pour with a generous bright beige head and good lacing. Nose of toffee, treacle, toast, a touch of hazelnuts, and a definite hop presence. Taste is cereal sweet with a nice hop bitterness. I had sort of been avoiding this in my fridge for the past two months, but this is really not bad.

Bottle #262 of 1200. Pours a dark chocolate brown with a thick beige head on top. Thick-looking froth made this one look like a milkshake. Big potent notes of chocolate and fudge grasp my attention. A little alcohol and vanilla noted as well. Nice aroma.
The body on this beer is a little disappointing. It doesn’t hold up the "bigness" of the beer as I’d expect. Thin feel with moderate carbonation. Goes down much too slick. The flavors also aren’t quite as bold as I’d like. Some chocolate noted, graham cracker, vanilla, and bit of alcohol on the finish. A good drink, but this falls short of great. A basic Brown that needs a little bit of work.
