4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle purchased from the Vineyard in Ramsbottom. The Kernel brewery has been receiveing a lot of plaudits, this is only my second beer I have tried so hold high hopes.
The nose is exceptional, rich and full, with citrussy IPA notes and a touch of malt. I was struggling to pick up the Rye others recorded.
A full bodied taste with pine and some tropical fruits from the hops. A nice balance of malt. The (realtivly) high alcohol gives an initial sweetness of an American IPA but finishes with a satisfying bitterness.
Nice mouthfeel, with a good oily texture. The mild carbonation is suited to the beer.
A very good l beer.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Nice malty aroma with a sweet rye taste. It has a delicate bitter finish. A light body but not to drinkable for obvious reasons.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Kris Wines. He found an old case of Kernel beers in his stock room, so pleased I didn’t miss out on this! Colour is dirty reddy brown, cloudy. Thin white head. Nose is like a barley wine meets a double IPA. Lots of caramel, lots of citrous orange, barley grain, hop bitterness still has a bit of kick. Taste is citrusy, orange, caramel sweet, alcoholic kick, quite earthy, possibly a touch of oxidisation on this.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, dark amber colour with a beige and short foamy head. Toasty malty nose with an intensively fruity, spicy and resiny hoppy touch. Bitter-sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a soft carbonation. Hearty and toasty malt-character with notes of cough syrup, as well as fruity and resiny hops; sweet-bitter solid malty and aromatically hoppy finish with a lingering aftertaste. 28.III.12
