4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500 ml bottle from Ales By Mail, served in a nonic pint glass. Bottled on 23-09-2013. Dark brown, looks pitch black in the glass, with a fluffy and persistent beige coloured head. Intriguing aroma of espresso coffee, 70% cocoa powder, ash and light smoke, earth/roots notes as well. During the first sip it seems quite vinous with tons of dark fruits, but it gets more chocolaty warming up. Good coffee bitternes and very pleasent dryness. It really is extremely quaffable with absolutely no trace of the alchool. Soft to average carbonation, medium body and slightly oily texture. Great.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
0.5l bottle from beermerchants.com This is a deep dark murky brown - near black beer with a massive and quite impressive multi-layered lasting ashy chocolate head and some old school big beige sediments at the bottom of the glass. It has a really nice fresh hoppy aroma with lots of chocolate-malts tones all the way. Also some fresh cold coffee in here mixed with sweet biscuits. A really nice aroma! Oh, yeah! Strong and really coffee-like flavors here! Lots and lots of cold coffee. Not like in espresso, but plain normal filtered coffee. It’s average to average+ carbonated and it has a nice oily texture in the mouth. Really hoppy and refreshing as well, and I find strong tones of heavy chocolate paper. A true delightness to drink in the morning on a lovely day. What more can a bloke ask for? 26.05.2012
