Bottled, 330ml at Cherry Reds Cafe, Birmingham City Centre. Black with cream head. There is a full, dry, fruity flavour to this along with quite a juicy lemon character to it. There is a good depth to the roasty malts with a charred coffee husk note along with pitch, tar hints. Another very good beer from these.

Another old Kernel beer but this one’s in good nick. Bottle from the brewery. Colour is opaque very dark brown, off white light foam head. Nose is dark chocolate, dusty cocao, wheat grain, cereal grain, husky . Taste is lots of rich coffee, roasted malt, roasted coffee bitterness, caramel, bit of fustiness and slightly sharp fading hop tingle.

Osprey87 (1586) - WALES - MAR 20, 2013
Aug 2012 - exploded upon opening, very hoppy bitterness. Not a fan of this stout at all - my homebrew porters were better (though they also exploded!)

Bottle from beermerchants.com. A black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate aroma. Tastes similar, roasty, malty, chocolate, some coffee, slightly hoppy and bitter. Decent stuff as usual from the Kernel.

500ml bottle, 5.3% abv, (columbus written on the opposite side of the label), bought at the microbrewery. Devil-black body. Creamy, tan-coloured head. Sweet aroma of earthy malts. Cocoa taste with a backdrop of spices and juicy malts. Coffee bitterness to the finish. Well made, tasty beer (shared with Finn, hotel room, London 04.11.2012).

Pudding (175) - Birmingham, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 14, 2012
500ml bottle Cotteridge Wines B30. My bottle 5.3% bb210813. An impressive beer. I’d describe the taste as intensely herbal. I think Export India Porter is a a better description than Black IPA which seems a misnomer to me.

Bottle, picked up from ’Jacks’ Westholme Stores’, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon consumed at home Wednesday 17.10.11 Pours black with a light beige head. Coffee and chocolate on nose and Loz said she could smell the chocolate on me, though she thought it wasn’t so apparent on the nose. Hoppy, roasty and smooth in mouth with a lovely juicy hoppiness combining well with the bitter and roastiness. Good, actually its very good. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 3.9
