4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
33cl bottle. Pours near pitch black with bubbly tan head and light lacing, Aroma is beautifully deep with coffee, plums, dark chocolate, dark roasted maltiness and a touch of liquorice combining beautifully. Taste follows suit but in a much more pronounced way; beautiful dark roast coffee notes mingle with dark booze-soaked fruits, bitter dark chocolate, roasted malt, slight smoke, light liquorice, brown sugar. Good Lord this is excellent. Slight alcohol warmth detected in the aftertaste, which is full of roasted, fruit, and coffee flavours. Lovely residual bitterness. Full and oily mouthfeel. Such a smooth piece of brewing. Take me back to 1890 lads, this is wonderful.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours black with a small fully finishing brown head. The aroma immediately delivers roasted/burnt malts, strong coffee, some chocolate. In the mouth, coffee and malty taste are very intense. Creamy body, and a moderate bitter finish. Must eat something with a strong taste.

330ml Bottle from bottle-shop.co.uk
Big brown head, almost black colour. Strong aroma of chocolate and coffee right out of the bottle. Roasted malt, stinging hints of smoke/wood.
Taste is malty with light heavy roasty bitterness, medium smoke, almost medium coffee. Dark chocolate. Light fruity. Massive indeed. Finish is rather simple, but enjoyable roasty bitterness with a pinch of smoky tartness. Very nice, I hope to have this again someday.
It really calls for a juicy steak to go with.

Bottle shared with Sarah during our last night in London. Pours near black with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of roasted malts with coffee and a hint of dark grains. Flavor starts with smooth dark grains that are joined by a hint of roasted malt and light pine.

33 cl bottle, Sheffield, UK via Beer Ritz Leeds (I think). Very dark brown colour, nice dark tan head. Mixture of chocolate, prunes, soy sauce and spruce aroma. Thick, oily, heavy roasted malt transitions to a bittersweet chocolate and resin flavour, then a long hop fuelled finish.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
