COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mainly Bottled; Regular. Has been seen on draught.
Previously 7.8%, 7.7% and 7.1%.

Based on a recipe from a London Brewery in 1890.
Simple recipe, massive taste. Dark, dark black. Oily texture. Loads of rich dried fruit and alcohol warmth ­ rum and raisin. Then a herbal hop bitterness on top of huge lingering espresso. Hints of leather, tar, smoke, vanilla and chocolate. Roasty.

Coloración marrón intenso, casi negro. Buena formación de espuma y buena estabilidad. En nariz presenta suaves notas quemadas, café solo e intenso y suaves notas achocolatadas. En segundo plano y de manera muy sutil aparece notas de lúpulo. En boca el protagonismo es para la malta torrefacta que proporciona notas de madera quemada, café solo e intenso y chocolate puro y licoroso. Amargor procedente de la malta torrefacta. Cuerpo denso y baja carbonatación. Retrogusto seco y prolongado de las maltas torrefactas. La sensación en boca deja pensar que su graduación alcohólica es mayor a los 6,7% que realmente presenta. Muy ajustada a estilo (Foreing Extra Stout)

Bottle. Black with a brown head leaving lacing. Aroma: roasted, coffee beans, creamy, licorice. Taste contains the same and adds wine gums, salmiak, fruits and maybe berries, dry finish. Very nice.

Bottle from The Vineyard. Lush brown pour. Dark chocolate, roasted malt flavour. Medium body, fair amount of carbonation. Long complex finish. Nice.

Du pétrole : noir, pas de mousse. Nez grillé : café, malts torréfiés, chocolat, raisins secs, alcool. Attaque amère, très sèche, café, chocolat, cuir, astringente, fumée, grillée. Longueur interminable. Amertume vraiment très puissante. On croit deviner le houblon derrière tout ça, présent mais bien caché. Très bonne stout, pour les amateurs d’amertume très sèche et de café !

Bottle from the Darlington Cheese & Wine Shop. Pours inky black with a nice tan head. Lovely coffee aroma. The taste is rich with notes of liquorice, coffee and a slightly ashy dryness. Really nicely full bodied. Very good beer.

Bottle at the Kernel Brewery on 25 Aug 2012. Poured near black, with a big, dense beige head. Aroma of coffee, big roast malt, berries and some peppery hop. Dark rum and dates in the flavour, with tar and dark chocolate. Finish was burnt malt, coffee and prunes.
