Simple recipe, massive taste. Dark, dark black. Oily texture. Loads of rich dried fruit and alcohol warmth rum and raisin. Then a herbal hop bitterness on top of huge lingering espresso. Hints of leather, tar, smoke, vanilla and chocolate. Roasty.

Dark brown colour, small brown head. Very roasty, almost burnt malty aroma. Hints of chocolate, dark fruit, coffee. Bitter and somewhat dry.

Shared by martjoobolut, thanks! lack beer with a tan head. Nose is roast, milk chocolate, dry notes, coffee. Flavor is roast, chocolate, coffee, licorice, hops and roast in the finish. Medium to full body. Hides it’s ABV well. Slick and smooth, easy to drink.

Near-black beer with a thin beige head and a light, smoky malt aroma. Flavour has the same smoky malt vut with sharp, tangy fruit, bitter chocolate and hop coming through as well. Its strong but very well balanced and leaves a distinctive chocolate/coffee aftertaste.

Almost black, good beige head. Aroma and taste: Coffee, coffee, coffee... very well balanced. Very good, as usual in The Kernel.

Bottled 18/02/14. 8.2%ABV. Good solid stout. I loved well balanced flavours of roasted coffee, dark chocolate and a touch of vanilla. Hugely impressive. I’ll dig the Kernel more for sure.

Bottle sample, thanks rayaron. 8.2%. Dark brown with a beige creamy head. Aroma of roasted malts, black coffee and dark chocolate. Very rich bunch of flavors with coffee, chocolate, raisins, dried fruits and vanilla notes. Long lingering aftertaste, medium-full bodied. Smooth and creamy. Great stout.

Poured from a 330ml bottle, nearly black with a moderate, tan, foamy head. Aroma is complex, immediately chocolate, then a roasted coffee and raisin. Taste has sweet notes that are followed by medium bitter. My lips are sticky. Full bodied, soft carbonation. Not an overly heavy stout at all. Coffee notes linger in wonderful fashion and my mouth is left feeling warm. Very enjoyable experience to be sure.

Zo dit is even een lekker biertje, van de tap mooi bruin/zwart met goede volle kraag. Aroma volmoutig en chocolade en koffie, dit kont ook prima terug in de smaken. Lekker glad en zacht. Erg goed bier !

Geruch sauber malzig, schokoladig. Antrunk dunkelmalzig. Mitte schokoladig, röstig, sehr dicht, fruchtig. Bitterröstiger kerniger Abgang, schokoladig. Super!

On tap at The Kernel, pours black with a medium brown head. Aroma brings out lots of roasted malt and cocoa. Flavour is very rich and complex, with lots of roasted malt and dry cocoa. Rich and velvety on the palate, with exceptional depth. Another gem from the masters of the UK.
