3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg at BD Shepardís Bush. Opaque dark brown black pour with lasting light tan head. Aroma is huge roasted black malt and lots of berry and dried fruits, Madeira cake. Considerable hot alcohol in the nose as well. Flavour is again huge, with tart berries, rich dark choc and roast grains. Some spiced treacle sponge cake. Palate is full and smooth. Big alcohol warmth. Oak is present but in balance. Good stuff could have been less boozy.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg at Brewdog Shepherdís Bush. Apparently brewed in 2011. Black, very little head. Aroma - slightly sour, woody, roasted barley, cherry. Body is medium, carbonation medium. Taste - chocolate, touch of wood, tart, almost bretty lemon and apple peel. Some unexpected flavours going on here, but it works quite well. Definitely a slow drinker.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Keg at BD Shep Bush. Iím supposed to be buying a medicine ball fer Christs sake. Instead Iím waiting for this to warm up. Ok well itís funky actually, smooth as hell, although with a rich bite of bittersweet choco. Another thing is it has an unusual sharpness which a fellow drinker described as lemon. Iíll refrain from narrowing it down, but heís not wrong.is that what French oak does? White wine??

3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks to Leighton and GT2 for sharing Dark black pour, tan head. Aroma is dark chocolate, subtle dark fruits, cinnamon, notes of vanilla. Really nice - I wish the beer tasted like it smells. Seems like this might be a bit infected, with a little bit of sourness to the taste. Itís not terrible, just doesnít seem intentional. There are some cabernet notes to the taste, black pepper. Not an incredible palate with that sourness taking on some acetone on the finish. Seems like the base beer would be pretty good, just this iteration might be a little weird.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330mL thanks to Leighton! Big black saison looking overcarbonated foam subsides to a smaller but persistent beige head. Deep near black pour. Good, spottier lacing. Nose is quite rich and nutty with hazelnut, toasted pecans/chestnut, intense chocolate cake, Taste up front is big carbonation distracting, almost black saison like moving to an oily, nutty chocolate cake dessert. A bit of a thinner mouthfeel for abv with an aerated black saison character. Overall, the flavor is spot on but the beer has picked up some sort of wild yeast in the barrel causing it to dry out and overcarbonate. But the end result is just a baller black saison.

Clear dark brown beer, small to no head. Aroma: caramel, grains, mocha, tobacco, very earthy, dried prunes, some spices, overripe fruits. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: lots of dried fruits, prunes, some overripe banana, mocha, rotten fruits, little sour, sugary touch. Aftertaste: alcohol, spicy, rotten fruits, mocha, some coffee, bitter hops, dry ending. Not a bit fan of this one.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from the brewery. Opened this and most of it just gushed out. Left with about 75ml. Colour is opaque very dark brown tan head. Nose is sour yeast, so slightly infected. Thereís chocolate, coffee, sour yeast, red berry, bit musty. On the taste itís more what I was expecting. Rich dark coffee, dark chocolate, but unfortunately a bit of that sour yeast and red berry sourness.
