3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from the brewery. Opened this and most of it just gushed out. Left with about 75ml. Colour is opaque very dark brown tan head. Nose is sour yeast, so slightly infected. There’s chocolate, coffee, sour yeast, red berry, bit musty. On the taste it’s more what I was expecting. Rich dark coffee, dark chocolate, but unfortunately a bit of that sour yeast and red berry sourness.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black with thick coffee foam head. Aroma is oak, vanilla, fruity, vinous. Flavour is similar. This version is generally less bitter and more fruity and sour. The aftertaste does bring through hints of coffee also warming alcohol.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
330ml bottle purchased at the Bermondsey location late August, 2012 - meant to share this, but ... oh well. A slow gusher when opened very, very cold (thanks for the tip!!) - poured into a snifter and allowed to warm to decent cellar temp. Poured out thick and oily brown-black with a large and reasonably long-lasting creamy tan/light brown head. Intriguing aroma - very dark mostly chocolate aroma, earthy with some alcohol presence, almost hot peppery, and only a little dry oak tannin presence, no realy "vanilla" at all - really nice; dry and very roasty. Taste - follows, but what they call vinous - thick, almost sherryish, more oak, but then even more earthy dry decidedly NOT sweet roast. Average body (oddly enough), slick, mildly carbonated, roast up front and a longish dry, vaguely bitter finish. Complex, interesting, very glad to have had it.
