Keg at CBC Clerkenwell during the Second Birthday Party - London. Pours black-brown with a creamy, tan head. Dry dark chocolate aroma, some sturdy roasted malts, burnt wood. Big sweet flavor, lightly dry, with some alcohol punch, dark chocolate, bitter baking cocoa, gooey chocolate, dry earthy and woody bitterness. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Charred wood to finish with more bitter baking cocoa, strong roasted malts, dirt, some dark fruits. Outstanding. Quite drinkable given the ABV. One of the top beers of the afternoon.

Tap at Craft Beer Co Clerkenwell, 2nd birthday bash, thanks to my wallet for a £7 half! 29/06/13. Pitch black with a thin tan head which clears edgeward and to a film. Nose is chocolate, roast malt, subtle whisky notes, ash, light wood, leather. Taste comprises dark chocolate, molasses, oaky wood, dark roast malts, sugars, subtle whisky. Full bodied, fine carbonation, sweet in the finish. Cracking impy, the alcohol is well integrated, a little too sweet for my liking but not OTT. The whisky is well managed in the background. Top notch.

Keg @ CBC Clerkenwell’s 2nd Birthday Party. The pour’s deep brown with a small head. The nose is light peat, roasted wood. Dark bitter chocolate. Quite earthy. Forest fire menace on the nose. The taste is smooth, rich caramel and toffee. Vanilla. Shocks of smoke, general savory flavors. Full body, oily. Thick. Overall, pretty luxurious, tasty. A great beer.
