Tap at Borefts 2013. Great stout. Chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, whiskey. Full, rich, creamy, well-balanced. Tiny bit sweet.

On draft at Borefts 2013. Pitch black, lasting brown head. Highly remarkable: a glass with this beer actually feels substantially heavier (in weight) that all other beers i’ve had at the festival. In aroma loads of malt, chocolate, coffee, caramel, wood, wonderful. Very strong and evolving flavors, very malty, chocolate, alcohol, perfectly balanced. Bitter finish, but not as extreme as most imperial stouts. Absolutely fantastic stuff, the best i’ve tried at the festival this year.

@Borefts 2013
nagenoeg zwart met kaki kraag
aroma: geroosterde mouten, koffie, turf/veen
smaken: redelijk zoet, zachte koffie(espresso), whisky (zeer goed), vanille, heerlijk zacht, zoet in de mond, beperkt bittertje, chocolade, super bier !

Borefts 2013 - Aroma of whiskey, light smoke and coffee. Very rich. Has some bitter, roasted flavours, whiskey malts and some sweeter, creamier notes too. Great balance.

Bottle at home in London - picked up from the brewery quite a while back. Bottled on 16.11.12. Pours oily black with a somewhat flimsy, bubbly brown-beige head that slowly fluffs up a bit into a flimy cream.

Lovely aroma, loaded with diverse chocolate aspects, plenty of gooey milk chocolate, also some hard baking cocoa, nips of burnt wood, vanilla, dirt. Medium to big sweet flavor without being remotely cloying, with lots more chocolate character, dried fruits, grape, earth, hot cocoa, vanilla pods, very slight charred wood, ash, oily chocolate, low but adequate scorched earth bitterness.

Full bodied yet soft, with fine carbonation and oily texture. Lightly warming on the finish with more dynamic chocolate presence, charred wood, red berries, slight tannic dryness, rounded vanilla, bittersweet cocoa, softened roasted malts. Tremendously well integrated and nuanced. Nicely balanced and not at all boozy. Exceptionally drinkable. World-class.

33cl bottle from the brewery drunk at home watching The Ashes presentation ceremony at Durham as England win the urn for the 3rd time in a row. What a game, what a day of cricket. Broad was inspired. Bell though is the man of the series. Black beer lasting tan head. Lots of choc on the aroma, with some tangerine whisky. I love speyside whisky. Wow, the barrel ageing really works on this. I love the Imperial Brown base beer it’s good. Yes a slightly spirity flavour, but in the mouth, the beer explodes into a dark chocolate sharp tangerine/orange flavour. Wow, it’s really good. Lovely. Barrel ageing that works properly. I love the choc, the malt, the whisky. Excellent.

August 24, 2013 - draught at The Kernel. Only ruby black with minimal tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, very light oak and a hint of iodine and tar and molasses. Taste - wow - so smooth and balanced and hugely subtle worth the barrel, not at a boozy - fantastic. Slick and light, subtly carbonated, no booziness, massively drinkable.

Countbeer (6083) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - SEP 28, 2013
Draught@Borefts’13: Small brown head/lacing on top of a deep dark brown to black colored beer. Aromas of whiskey, vanilla, roast, coal, coffee, some coffee roast and some crisp liquorice. Flavours of bitters, light dry, wood, roast, coffee, wood toast, light coal Ish, deep dark balanced and bit complex. Very nice. Aftertaste is coffee, bitter, light dry, roast, wood roast and some malts roast. Low carbo, soft creamy mouthfeel, full body and a creamy oily texture. Delicious.
