3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours pretty much black with a big brown head that leaves a long lasting lid. Rich aroma of dark roasted coffee, chocolate, vanilla. The taste is very well rounded bitter-sweet upfront, with a long lasting finish somewhat too ashen and astringent for my taste. Full bodied and slightly oily with lots of tiny bubbles that quickly dissipates. Very good, but I would’ve preferred a smoother finish.

330ml bottle. Pitch black with dense two finger brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and some bitterswert chocolate. Bitter roasted taste altering over to sweet chocolate and then back to a great mix of roasted dry and sweet. Great complex palate with very well hidden alcohol.

Lingering peat, whisky and molten dark chocolate on the tongue. Roasted coffee and molasses malt character on the nose plus a hint of soy sauce - Tia Maria meets Umami! Irregular, frothy, dark head. Black, full body.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
The aroma is of dark coffee. The taste is sweet but still dark chocolate and dark coffee. Maybe a little alcohol also in taste. But not so much. Heavy bitterness in the aftertaste that fills the mouth forever. The aftertaste really do not want to end. Good beer but I do not really give a great rating so it is for me only okay. Very heavy beer to drink. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

@ Basunen 15-2-21: riktig fyllig doft av kaffe och choklad. Smaken är mycket fyllig och full av bitter choklad och torr kaffe. Lång fin och fyllig eftersmak med toner av arrak och vanilj. Riktigt gott.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black with brown foam that dissipates slow, leaving some lacings. Aroma is coffee, nuts, roasted malt, alcohol. Taste is rich and balanced, roasted malt, no hoppiness, slight sour hint, chocolate sweets, lots of roasted notes in the finish which is more oaky bitter rather than hoppy bitter. Medium to full body, low carbo, sticky liquid. A fine classic imperial stout as opposed to modern interpretations.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle thanks to Leighton. Pours a dark brown with beige head. The aroma is
strong chocolat and roast. Thin mouthfeel with roast, light char, hides alcohol well, very impressive.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
(330ml bottle from Systembolaget) Pours pitch black with a small dense dark tan head that lingers with lace. Aroma dark malts and molasses, roasted and smoky, licorice, soy sauce/salt note, coffee in back. Palate first has some sweet dark malt with molasses and dark fruit, cold black coffee, semisweet chocolate. Lots of licorice from the middle on, smoky and kind of peated roast, a little dark fruit liqueur underneath. Finish is quite dry dusty roast and lingering licorice and smoke, touch of coffee bitterness too. A little hint of alcohol warming. Medium full mouthfeel with very soft carb. The feeling is that of an old English imperial stout, nice dry roast malt body and no real hop component, just smoky bitterness. Quite nice change of pace from the more modern style.
