UPDATED: JAN 6, 2015 Nose of fruit cake, toffee and chocolate. Taste is very mellowed out with some chocolate raisin quality, not very roasty compared to american counterparts, but some roast is there. Taste is vanilla, chocolate, lots of licorice. Mouthfeel is a bit thinned out.

Flaska köpt i Stoke Newington, London. Detta var en besvikelse tyvärr, smaken är inte alls behaglig. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle sample at a tasting at Mastikim, Ra’anana. Deep brown with small brownish head. Aroma of vanilla, milk chocolate, coffee, a bit alcoholic, faint toffee notes. Lots of coffee in the flavor, roasted malt, milk chocolate, licorice, medium sweetness, sticky dry sweet-bitter finish. Light carbonation, creamy, full-bodied. Very good.

Bottle - totally black with a dark brown fizzy white head. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, roast malt, coffee, cocoa and hints of grass and oak. Taste of caramel, chocolate and a little licorice, followed by vanilla, grass, roasted coffee beans and earth. Light bitterness, toffee and medium sweetness in the end. Medium body, low carbonation, light dryness. Just the right amount of warming alcohl. Definitely up there amongst the best beers I’ve had.

33cl bottle kindly shared by Arve_Christian - thanks a lot! Pours very dark brown, close to black, with a rather small, beige head. Roasty aroma with dark chocolate, dark malt, notes of coffee and spices and hints of dark fruits and licorice. Medium sweet with complex flavours and a nice bitterness.Surprisingly refreshing!

On bottle from Beermerchant online . Pitch black color, very little foam- low but ok carbonation ( 1856 style?). High aroma intensity, licorice, leather , malt, roasted aromas, light hops. Full body & high complexity . Very enjoyable ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle from Favourite Beer, Cheltenham, this was 10.2%. Deep dark brown colour with a thin tan head. Aroma has dark roasted malts. The taste follows the aroma. With a chocolate bitterness. Has a very creamy texture.
