Thick black beer. Notes of licorice, coffee, mocca and some milky chocolate. Nice lasting aftertaste, gets more mocca-ish. Great beer.

On tap at Kaelderkold at 9.8%. Pours an inky black with some ringing beige head. Nose has plenty of brown sugar, bread crust, fairly heavy molssses, licorice too, cakey. Flavor has heavy molasses, a flick of black pepper, plenty of malt, caramel, brown sugar, chocolate, a little bit of coffee, a little hint of vermouth. Dry finish.

Botella de 33 cl, adquirida en tienda XXXII. Color negro. Sabor a malta tostada, dulce, regaliz, muy ligeramente a chocolate. Una gran Stout.

Bottle. Pours black with a brown head. Aroma of nice chocolate, cocoa powder, sweet liquorice, roasted malts and caramel. Smells like an impy stout you know! Taste is sweet with some roasted notes Liquorice, cocoa, chocolate, dark dried fruits and a quite savory end. Quite dry and and with a rather creamy body. Very good but maybe just a little bit one-sided.

Bottle. Pours pitch black with a brown marshmellow-dense head. Aroma has lots of smoke and licorice, roast and cocoa. Taste has a little bit of vegetables, but is dominated by smoke, chocolate, english sweetness and licorice. Again this aftertaste reminds me of the one you get from peas. Slight salty. bitter roast in the end as well. Nice and full bodied. Medium-low carb.

I’m yet to be blown away by a Kernel beer, which given their reputation, suggests I’ve probably just been unlucky so far. This one certainly looks the part - almost black and viscous with a small coffee coloured head. Mostly milky coffee on the nose, joined by bitter dark chocolate in the mouth. Figs, raisins and black treacle are also present.
From my limited time on Ratebeer, it looks like imperial stouts can do little wrong, but I have to admit this is a good one. Maybe I’m starting to get this Kernel thing.

Bottle. Dark brown, low chocolate brown cream. Sherry, light vinous roast and chocolate aroma. Medium full smooth body, mellow mouthfeel. Broad chocolate mousse notes, a hint espresso, a bit spice, salt and hop bitterness in the finish. Port wine finish. Peacefull smooth imperial stout, pleasant to drink.

Bottle 33cl, a dark beer with medium copper head. Nose is intense in dry roasted coffee. Aroma is very dry, astringent, licorice, leather, lot of roasted coffee notes, bitter, ashes, slightly vinous, well malted but whole is unbalanced on my point of view.

Color negro denso. Con escasa espuma beige. Aromas de chocolate y frutos rojos. Cuerpo denso, textura sedosa. Inicio dulce de frutos rojos y chocolate, brownie, y final amargo y seco de chocolate negro. Excelente.

33cl bottle into teku glass. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aromas of salt, vanilla, caramel, roasted malts, coffee, chocolate. Tastes of coffee, dark chocolate, caramel and dark fruits. Has a nice bitter finish and a medium to full body. Medium carbonation.
