Bottle @ home. Pitch black with a beautiful big, lasting brown head. Smells chocolate, roasty, sweet. Tastes sweet, very roasty, salty liquorice, chocolate, herbs. The beer is quite salty overall, which I donít really like, but still.. Itís quute amazing. Full body, nice carbo, could be silkier.

This was labelled simply Imperial Brown Stout, 10%; dark, dark brown, no head to speak of; aroma of coffee and milk chocolate; oily texture; bitter espresso coffee, rich dark fruit, raisins, perhaps some cherry; sweetish; itís perhaps most characterised by an underpinning salty, peaty flavour which somehow works; long finish; very drinkable for 10%; in a word - lush.

Bottled @ Animal. Opaque black colour with minimal beige head. Aroma is strong coffee, roasted and toasted malts, slightly smoky as well. Flavor has notes of toasted malts, coffee, black chocolate. In the final alcohol is compensated and hidden by coffee notes, and chocolate plumbcake.

Aroma: Very boozy, liqueur-like aroma. A little salty.

Appearance: Intimidating jet black body with a small tan head that fades. Light lacing marks.

Taste: Raisin, dark chocolate, salt, caramel and tangy prune. Sweet and sugary with a slow-building bitter finish. Strong, warming alcohol.

Palate: Medium to full body with a syrupy, slightly oily texture. Soft carbonation.

Overall: Iím Kernelís biggest fan, but this tastes a bit too sweet and boozy for my liking. Itís definitely a sipper. My bottle was 10% ABV and labelled íImperial Brown Stoutí (bottled in May 2012)
