UPDATED: OCT 31, 2013 Strong bitter roast malts. Quite oily. Warming from the alcohol. Dried fruit flavours, bitter but with a sugary sweetness.

roasty, chocolate, caramel, raisin, Ive had this beer before and loved it but didnt review it. It was a black pour with a caramel head. The smell was sweet roasted malts, and milk chocolate. The taste was fruity, sweet but not cloying, roasty coffee and rum soaked raisins. It was a rich and full bodied. A great beer.

Bottle from the brewery. Dark brown, not much head. Aroma is dark fruit and booze, roasty and bit beefy too. Taste is very nice, cocoa, chocolate, roasty, pretty nice. Very unique. Booze well hidden. Lovely. Quite full on but at the same time easy to drink.

Backlog rate. One of my 10 favorite beers ever. What can I say? Burnt, hoppy, coffee, tar, fudge, creme caramel, incredible layered sweet/bitter flavours.

Very dark brown color. Very dry woody, austere, rounded smooth. Elegant, cacao, wood, dry, round. Amazing how well the alcohol is hidden. Superb and nothing like Iíve drank before.

On tap @ Borefts 2012. This is a dark brown one with a small bubbly and somewhat sidesticking brown top. It smells like a Kernel Brown ale alright. Cocoa and chocolate, some thin coffee tones also. Quite delicate. Itís average on the carbonation and oily on the mouthfeel. More chocolate in the taste - almost milkshake-chocolate like in many ways. Light alcoholic also with a light warming chocolate and cocoa sweet finish. Enjoyable. 30.09.2012 7-4-7-4-16

0.33l bottle shared with The Tasting Crew. Deep dark brown in color with a small light sidesticking and light lacing brown too. Smells of cocoa, dark roasted coffee, chocolate milk and some hoppy tones as well. The taste is deep roasted, but it evolves all the way. Some hints of woody acidity, but the chocolate and deep dark toasted coffee/malt dominates. Lotís of flavor and it ends with tones of woody booze and nice chocolate. Tasty stuff! 18.10.2012 7-4-7-4-15
