Black with a tan film of foam. Aroma has hints of sour notes but is dominated by roasted barley and bitter coffee. Taste is full of bitter coffee, mocca and roastyness. Malty caramel notes in the back.

Tasted at the 4th BBF @ de Molen. Brown pour. Aroma is roasty, coffee, chocolate, and somewhat fruity. Flavor is bittersweet, clean, roasted, nice and simple but very well balanced. Great brew.

Tap @ BBF 12. Pour pitch black, with a small tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, slight coffee, slight licorice. Slight booze as well. The taste is slightly sweet, with a nice amount of roastyness to it. Slightly oily and creamy body, with a flat carb.

This reminds me of Tom Waits. Have you seen the video for Hell Broke Luce? This is the liquid equivalent. Dark, deep and warm. Just the right amount of sweetness. I was expecting more of a resiny taste. Majestic. Some say the devil himself would drink this and I’d agree. I’d join him. Everyone knows he has the best tunes.

UPDATED: MAR 19, 2013 Draft at BBF. Second beer I tried from Kernel. Pour was a thick dark brown with very tiny tan head and small amount of lacing. Aromas/flavor of roast, chocolate, coffee, malts, and misc spices. Ultra warming in the belly, full bodied imperial stout. Lightly carbonated. The aromas was awesome on this one.

Bottle from the Pershore Rd, not sure which shop. Poured from a bottle into a glass by hand and drank via hole in the face. Smells tarry and vinuous and thick. Strongly sweet, with jelly tot moments before the smooth, rich malt takes hold. Warmth then follows. Very smooth, but didn’t quite have the depth of flavour or complexity that I was expecting. Still excellent (obviously).

The head is medium. It smells creamy, bitter-chocolate. The taste is very nice creamy, lots of coffee and bitter chocolate. In the end it is nice warming. Overal very taste and delicious. 11/12/11/12/12/11
