Bouteille partagée par Patrick. Version 10,0%. Embouteillée le 29.05.12 best before 29.05.2016. J’aime cette brasserie.

(33 cl. 10%).

330ml bottle shared by MartinT.
Appearance : Pitch black with small head.
Aroma : Great aromatic coffee. Roasted mal.
Taste : Oily coffee with oily hops. Slightly acidic (cold coffee). Finish oily hops with coffee.
Overall : Great beer. Packed with flavour. Big roasted malts and coffee notes. Still feels fairly well balanced and elegant. Nice hop presence for an IS. Well done.

Bottle from the brewery. 9.9%. Dark mahogany, almost black. Thin sandy coloured head. Aroma is surprisingly green, with booze soaked dark fruits waiting in the background. Taste is mild coffee, dark fruit, alcohol (who’d have thunk it) with a long dark chocolate finish. Good, but I reckon not ready yet. Stick one in the cellar and try to forget its there!

33cl bottle courtesy of mike_77 (BBF 13), thanks! Pours an impressive viscous mocha black with milk chocolate head. Potent aroma of pleasant vanilla coffee and roasted cocoa, austere tar and faint liquorice. Silky smooth oily palate with a slight effervescent undercurrent. Taste is dominated by soothing upfront coffee and chocolate and rounded off by a back palate symphony of bitters: roasted coffee beans, fondant, even chicoree root. All aroma elements taste particularly fresh and alive and make for easy drinking, I have the feeling this could have even improved if left in the bottle - but hard to resist!

330 ml bottle. I typically stay away from 10% stouts but as it was a Kernel beer, I had to try it. Pours with a quickly disappating head that eventually rings the outside of the glass. Heavy roasted and coffee flavors but doesn’t offend the palate. It took me a while to finish it but I would not want to waste this beer with a quick drink. Another solid stout from Kernel!

Bottle - 330ml. Opaque black body with low carbonation and a thin brown bubbly head. Superb, complex malty/hoppy aroma with chocolate, vanilla, roasty, and brown sugar hints. Alcohol is very well hidden. Its rich, robust malty/hoppy taste carries woody, plummy, chocolate, and Bourbon notes. Ends with a long, warming bittersweet finish. Awesome!

9.9% abv. A black beer with a medium, dense and light brown head. Yhe nose is smooth, roastiness and black coffee, some chocolate and sometimes a strenght of alcohol, that isn’t a bothering. Also some pleasant strawberries can be found from the complex aroma. Taste of roasted malts and coffee, liquirice. The balanced bitterness dries the balanced and roasted end. Full bodied and smooth, a slightly sticky to drink. The great beer without weakness.
