Beautiful pour with a dark body and a golden brown head that lasts and cascades down the glass. Smells of cocoa and coffee and citrus and dark malt, Peat, and dark fruit and goodness. tastes much of the same, very complex and delicate not at all living up to the sturdy 10.1% in terms of character. smooth and oh so drinkable, like a 6% beer at the most, Dangerous! Overall this is a fantastic beer which I would drink over an over! Loved it!

Keg at Craft Beer Co. It pours a deep dark brown/black-ish colour with a big foamy brown head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malts, wood and caramel. Taste is similar with coffee, roasted malts, slight booze, liquorice, wood and caramel. Bitter-sweet finish. Soft carbonation and full bodied. Complex and tasy brew, nice one.

Dark brown, brown head. Aroma is really roasty, some bitter chocolate notes, charcoal, ash. Flavor is dominated by roast, ash, espresso, chocolate. Pretty good, a bit too roasty for my personal taste.

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2013 My Bottom Line :
This wealthy Imperial Stout develops plenty of chocolate, brown and roasted malt aromas and flavors, leading to a balanced bitterness nudged by alcohol heat and peat smoke saltiness.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A sheet of foam tops the blackness.
-Red grape fruitiness appears here and there.
-The finishing bitterness seems to be mostly the contribution of the roasted malts.
-The brown malt flavors are akin to toasted pumpernickel bread sometimes.
-These guys seem to really have a knack for brewing Stouts and Porters.

Bottle: Literally black, small and lacy tanned head, coffee, roasted malt and dried fruits in the nose, some caramel and malt, too; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, full bodied, what else; soft and lingering fruity-molassy finish with a very distinctive bitterness in the aftertaste. What a solid brew....

Pours a black beer with a chocolate head. The aroma is malt, chocolate, slate and alcohol. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is dry with alcoholwarmth. Overall a good beer.

(bottle, 33cl, 9.2% abv) Black colour with a brown and short foamy layer. Intensively roasty, leathery and licquorice spicy aroma with notes of mocha and traces of Brandy-like alcohol. Roasty bitter flavour with a underlying malty sweetness, full bodied with a smooth and well-carbonated mouthfeel. Roasty and burnt malty taste with a cornucopia of flavours; roasty bitter and long lasting finish with a well-integrated alcoholic strength. 24.IV.12

Bottle from Tap East, opened for #impoff. Lively from the bottle it pours a thick dark brown with a tight tan head that billows and receeds quickly to a smooth covering. Raisin, brandy, milk chocolate and leather are all really apparent in the roasty aroma. Thick, rich and a little oily on the palate, it flows with a real silky smoothness over the tongue. A collision of rich dark fruit, liquorice and coffee explodes in the mouth, then roasty toasty coffee flavours melt down with a little astringency then dry into the back of the throat while maintaining their potency. This toatiness lingers long and large with an almost smokey edge. Superb.
