Bottle from the brewery. Pours black with a brown head that dissipates quickly and completely. Aroma has a note of peat with a good amount of strong roasted malts and a hint of bitter dark grains. Flavor is full of a very strong roasted malt note that imparts a bit of peat and a bitter coffee note.

Bottle courtesy of ACD, thanks Alex! Pours motor oil black w/ very scant taupe halo head, Incredible aroma: coffee, cocoa, buttered rum, very nice. Sweet and rich, with an assetive sturdy bitterness throughout, Some burnt sugar and treacle. Finish is more buttered rum, very unique and delicious.

ClubGonzo (3996) - Bergen, NORWAY - DEC 25, 2012
Bottle, shared with Bergen Beer Geek Tasting Crew. Pours a deep brown, near-black body with a small beige head. Nose is coffee, dark chocolate, hints of leather, brett-like sour-ish tones and licorice. Taste is coffee, mocca, dark chocolate, licorice, hints of wood and burnt toast. Full body, smooth carbonation. Nice imperial stout.

Alphadelic (1751) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 24, 2012
Thick, heavy and somewhat yeasty on the nose. Super thick with huge cocoa flavours. The boozininess is apparent not as heat, but as mouthfeel. Some heat does build in the chest though. Smooth and very, very bitter. My tongue feels parched.

Albe (56) - ITALY - DEC 19, 2012
Deep black color with almost absent, disappearing brown head. Aroma is a little alcoholic, with caramel, coffee and dark malts notes. In the mouth delivers more complexity, coffee, dried fruits, caramel, roasted malts. The body is creamy, leaves a light nutty finish. Particular and very pleasant imperial stout.

Stark malziger Beginn mit passender Süße. Leicht rauchig und angenehm hopfig, rund würzig. Kräuter, beständiger Hopfen, balanciert. Spitze! 11/12/12/12//12

JCB (3999) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - DEC 16, 2012
Bottle from Uto, London. Very handsome deep brown pour, thick and milky but not pure sludge. Moderate carbonation and a medium cafe au lait head. Vast amounts of chocolate and chickory in the nose, along with ash, roasted espresso bean, and candy. Thick, chalky body, and a long dry finish. That’s not to say that there isn’t a prominent sweetness, as there’s loads of caramale in the taste to balance out the bolder, more bitter flavors. All in all very enjoyable.

ACD (629) - Dublin, IRELAND - DEC 2, 2012
33cl bottle. Pours dark dark brown with thin bubbly tan head - light lacing. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, vinous notes, dark fruits. Taste is even better with dark fruits and chocolate taking the lead - some coffee bean & vanilla pod comes through too. Lovely rich dark malt tones throughout. Vinous notes in there near the end, bit of a booze warmth too. A wonderful imperial stout.

33 cl bottle, Sheffield, UK via Beer Ritz Leeds. Let the festivities begin. Deep brown leaning towards black. Thin head, resinous aroma with soy and ink. Slight green veg. Sweet, smoky with prune and more soy sauce. Fantastic.
