Countbeer (4041) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - MAR 5, 2012
Bottle: A medium vast brown head, which changes slowly into a lacing, on top of a black beer with a deep dark brown edge. Smell lots of roasted coffee, some roasted barleys malts, some caramel. Taste is a mix of good roasted coffee, roasted barley malts, good bitter, roasted herbs, something chocolate hoppy.  And then after a little while hint of haagse hopjes, caramel, vanilla and mocha comes through. Not too deep and complex, but a really intense roasted taste. Aftertaste is a mix of bitter, light dry, herbs, coffee and haagse hopjes. Low carbo, soft almost silky mouthfeel, full body and a creamy body. Really good beer, damn tasty and thick of texture (I like that)!

Bottle, Dark brown with a small head, Malty with a bitter finnish. Smooth and easy to sup. Where beers in mid Victorian times really like this?

TheJestersBeer (1932) - SWEDEN - FEB 22, 2012
Bottled. Pours a dense black, with a firm brown head. Massive aroma, heavily roasted, chocolate, caramel, toffee, coffee, smoke, ashes, tobacce. Semi-sweet, full bodied, high bitterness, creamy CO2. The taste reflects most things from the nose - heavily roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, smoke, ashes, tobacco. Very well balanced, extremely smooth and quite complex. (2012-02-14)

_angst_ (2368) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - FEB 19, 2012
330 ml bottle courtesy of Stefan. Pours oily dark brown (very close to black) with a creamy mocha head that leaves some lacing on the glass while slowly dissipating. Smell is sweet with quality chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, wood, coffee and a bourbon-like alcohol character. Taste is bitter and slightly sweet with heavily roasted malts, bitter chocolate, quality coffee and hints of salty liquorice and alcohol. Mouthfeel is creamy and full-bodied. Finish is dry and bitter with coffee and bitter chocolate.

Dark oil black. Thick coffee flavor with a hint of licorice. Malty sweetness accentuates the coffee. A slimy mouthfeel and a heavy addition to a meal.

Bottle from Coppers in Newcastle. Inky black with a thin brown head. The beer has an oily mouthfeel with a very rich dark chocolate flavour, burnt coffee notes, liquorice, red fruits and a warming hoppy finish.

33cl bottle @ home, courtesy of ajax25g.

UPDATED: MAY 3, 2013 Bottle from the Kernel. Dark black colour with darkish coffee like head. Roasty, coffee aromas, full body with lengthy bitter finish. Extremely pleasant, only perhaps not as complex as some other imperial stouts. Rerate - agree with first review. This time poured very flat with no head. It’s very solid beer this, lovely.

Black body with a creamy brown head. Nice sweet aroma of chocolate, malts and vanilla. Heavily sweet, heavily bitter flavour. Brilliant, only yhe finish is less complex and interesting.
