3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate, caramel, molasses, vanilla, and roast. It’s a dark brown with some orange highlights and a small beige small khaki head that quickly fades to a minimal film outlined by a thin ring. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate, caramel, and molasses. The finish has light-moderate roasted malt, anise, and a touch of vanilla. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation.

4.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Beer thanks to Beersiveknown. Fuck, Steve, you don’t know how grateful I am, cheers. Aroma: Strong coffee aroma, dark chocolate, light fruit, nuts, soft alcohol, intensive and very gentle. Appearance: Brown head, low, leaves lacing, color is black. Taste: A lot of dark chocolate with coffee, very intensive, dense, powerful, some caramelly notes, light plum and molasses, gentle alcohol underneath, wow nuts. Palate: Carbonation is low, body is full, finish is dark chocolate with nuts big as fuck, tottaly dense and sticky beer. What a beer. Like a hazelnut chocolate with coffee. Could it be the best beer in my life? Probably.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
330ml bottle from Good Spirits Co, Glasgow:
Another excellent Kernel beer, my first dark beer from them in a while & every bit as good as their IPA’s & pale ales. An excellent beer with plenty of dark chocolate flavours & a nice, strong kick from the alcohol alongside nice coffee flavours & sweetness. Highly drinkable for the strength of the beer as well & exactly what I was expecting from this one.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from London Beer Lab. Despite its name this is pretty close to being black. There?s a thick tan head and a wonderful velvetty smooth mouthfeel. Chocolate up front with a roasted malt bitterness following through. You wouldn?t know it was 10%+, the alcohol is totally hidden and it slips down dangerously easily. A beaut of a stoot.
