Jet black, low lingering brickish red head. Aroma cocoa powder, espresso. Robust body, roastiness nicely blends with sour cocoa nibs. Long lasting bitterness - well hopped. Maybe too much, otherwise rating would be bit higher.

0.33 l bottle from ’De Bierkoning’ at 10% abv, bottled in October 2014. Pitch black with a medium large, creamy, almost stable, light brown head. Intense, sweetish, roasty aroma of dark chocolate, mocca, licorice and cocoa. Sweetish-malty, moderately roasty taste of dark chocolate, mocca, licorice, cocoa and hints of hazelnut, followed by a long, slightly warming, rather roasty-bitter finish. Full body, creamy ans viscid mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very intense flavours, great mouthfeel, overall very satisfying. Just lovely!

Bottle, thanks to brewtalita. Dark brown colour, nice beige head. Aroma is roasted, assertively hopped, earthy, pine. Taste is roasted, earthy hoppy, some caramel and malty sweetness. Roasted and hoppy bitter aftertaste. Very good.

Draught at Akkurat. Black with a dense two finger head. Nose: tar, coffee, licorice and molasses. Taste: sweet roasted with coffee, dark chocolate, licorice and molasses. Woody herbal bitter finish. Mouth: sticky, soft/smooth and fairly big. A well rounded and tasty imp. considering it is more licorice forward than I normally prefer.

Pours a clear, sunny-amber color, with a huge froth head on top. Smells of wheat entangled orange peel, spiced up by black peppers and coriander. Offers a soothing wet grass quality among toffee malts and a whiff of rock sugar. Has a higher, lively carbonation, although the beer’s overall soft and creamy mouthfeel prevails, while adding a nice refreshment to it. Tastes of bitter cardamom and equally bitter lemon peel accompanied by white orange zest, hay and a rock sugar peak. Unusually refreshing with blood oranges and a note of black peppers together with a soft aqueous quality. Finishes with a world class creaminess, while a perfectly dosed, bubbly carbonation cuts through along with sweeter spices, and a still recognizable bitter counterpart from the beginning. Fantastic beer overall, offers a unique twist while sticking to the style, perfected by its balance and supersmooth mouthfeel.

Bottle at home from Alus Celle Riga. Almost black with dark brown tint color. Very thin mocca color head which leave fast, but stay on the glass. Aroma: coffee, roasty, dark chocolate a little. Taste: medium sweetness change in bitter and spicy notes. Full body, thin and a little creamy texture with long bitter finish. Actually excillent balanced beer, but a little boring.
