4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle; from Brwery, thanks Evin!
Opaque black colour, mocha lacing diminishes, aroma is smoke, chocolate, light peat, fudge, some citrus hops.
Taste is superb. Stunning dark Belgian chocolate, like real premium stuff, smoke, some leather, some peat, fudge, toffee, roasted malts, a littel rough on the bitternes, oil ,vanilla, raisins, brown sugar, depth and complexity is stunning, really long drinking and warms up very very nicely. Ken is right, lay this for a year and it woulld be intrigueing. I may do the same. Great work, Evin! Drinkability is there and alcohol is well hidden. Great stuff.

33cl bottle kindly shared by Arve_Christian - thanks a lot! Pours very dark brown, close to black, with a rather small, beige head. Roasty aroma with dark chocolate, dark malt, notes of coffee and spices and hints of dark fruits and licorice. Medium sweet with complex flavours and a nice bitterness.Surprisingly refreshing!

(The Kernel Imperial Brown Stout London 1856) Bottle 330 ml at home, served into a snifter, ABV 10.2%
Totally black in colour, small dark brown head, good density and retention. Medium lacing left around the glass.
Nice aroma, roasted malts, chocolate, hops, light acidity at the beginning, light vanilla too, a hint of the alcohol.
Taste is as great as the aroma, again roasted malts, coal, ash, chocolate, vanilla, wood, alcohol on the finish but without becoming boozy. Mild bitterness.
Medium body, soft carbonation.
Very good and it is still young.
NIce dryness on the palate.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
From a bottle at Pub Edward, Quebec City. Pours a really dark brown with no head and no lacing, looking completely still. Nose is of roasted coffe, dark chocolate. Taste is of not quite sweet and features roasted malt at its best, never ashy. It is also lightly bitter, really nice. More chocolate. Body is full and mouthfeel really smooth with a really light carb. Alcohol is nowhere to be felt. Overall a really nice imperial stout, not quite meeting the impossibly high expectations that were set but still really solid! (Maybe it is because it was served in an inappropriate glass? ;))
