Bottle; from Brwery, thanks Evin! Opaque black colour, mocha lacing diminishes, aroma is smoke, chocolate, light peat, fudge, some citrus hops. Taste is superb. Stunning dark Belgian chocolate, like real premium stuff, smoke, some leather, some peat, fudge, toffee, roasted malts, a littel rough on the bitternes, oil ,vanilla, raisins, brown sugar, depth and complexity is stunning, really long drinking and warms up very very nicely. Ken is right, lay this for a year and it woulld be intrigueing. I may do the same. Great work, Evin! Drinkability is there and alcohol is well hidden. Great stuff.

Bottle, 5 months old. Pours medium for style, no head. Smell - lots of roasted barley, boozey, yeast. Not that appealing, but then it’s usual for the style. Smooth mouthfeel. Taste is strong - barley, some coffee and salt. Alcohol not really noticeable, which is strange given the smell. Dry spicey finish. Decent enough.

Bottle from BrewDog Camden. Pours heavy brown bordering on black with almost no head, just a light khaki ring around the edge. Nose shows heavy liquorice/aniseed with light espresso and vanilla. Taste is light liquorice, molasses, milk chocolate, bread. Quite a bit of heat on the finish. Thinnish mouth feel. Ok but not great

Bottle at The Chequers pub in Walthamstow, London. Pours very dark drown with a frothy tan head. Lively nose with caramel and coffee notes. Taste is sweet toffee and bitter black coffee, followed up with a massive punch of warming alcohol. Mouthfeel is very pleasing and lively on the tongue. Great beer.

Bottle courtesy of TheydonB, thanks Colin - shared with Max and Brian. Pours a deep, murky brown body with thin lacing. Aroma is dark caramel espresso roast, fresh hop and light oak. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of caramel malts, espresso, sweet rich chocolate and coffee roast. Very nice imperial stout.

9.9%abv, bottle conditioned. Bottled 02/01/13, so pretty young. Pours with a thin creamy brown head. Deep black colour with a slight ruby tinge when held to light. No sign of carbonation. Not as big on the nose as I was expecting, all the aromas I was expecting come through - coffee, malts, some treacle, cocoa - but they weren’t that strong. Medium to full bodied, some foamy carbonation in the mouth then coffee, maltiness, chocolate and a big boozy bitter coffee finish. OK, but far from smooth - the alcohol overwhelmed it a bit and the bitterness was a little harsh. Maybe it needs more time to mellow out a bit.

Bottled 15.02.11 consumed 2.6.13. Has aged well. Pours black with thin tan head. A nose of cocoa and charcoal. Very smooth and balanced, pleasantly less sweet than when tasted previously, nice residual cocoa elements. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black beer dark brown small head. Aroma is coffee chocolate with a hint of vanilla or something similar. Taste is light bitter, medium roastyness. finish should be longer for a 5/5 palate. light mouthfeel considering the 10%, soft. very good.
