4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 tdtm82 (666) - - APR 16, 2011
Bottle; from Brwery, thanks Evin!
Opaque black colour, mocha lacing diminishes, aroma is smoke, chocolate, light peat, fudge, some citrus hops.
Taste is superb. Stunning dark Belgian chocolate, like real premium stuff, smoke, some leather, some peat, fudge, toffee, roasted malts, a littel rough on the bitternes, oil ,vanilla, raisins, brown sugar, depth and complexity is stunning, really long drinking and warms up very very nicely. Ken is right, lay this for a year and it woulld be intrigueing. I may do the same. Great work, Evin! Drinkability is there and alcohol is well hidden. Great stuff.

330 ml bottle courtesy of Stefan. Pours oily dark brown (very close to black) with a creamy mocha head that leaves some lacing on the glass while slowly dissipating. Smell is sweet with quality chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, wood, coffee and a bourbon-like alcohol character. Taste is bitter and slightly sweet with heavily roasted malts, bitter chocolate, quality coffee and hints of salty liquorice and alcohol. Mouthfeel is creamy and full-bodied. Finish is dry and bitter with coffee and bitter chocolate.

Dark oil black. Thick coffee flavor with a hint of licorice. Malty sweetness accentuates the coffee. A slimy mouthfeel and a heavy addition to a meal.

33cl bottle @ home, courtesy of ajax25g.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JorgeLee (189) - Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 10, 2012
Bottle from the Kernel. Dark black colour with darkish coffee like head. Roasty, coffee aromas, full body with lengthy bitter finish. Extremely pleasant, only perhaps not as complex as some other imperial stouts.
